Ideally we should all be able to walk around naked without shame. And a woman should be able to be anywhere at any time and never be molested. This not the case though.

So where do we draw the line? The knee seems fair, some golden middle way in all things. But that would be in an ideal world where everyone was kind and respected each other. The real world is not about to cease being extremely unpleasant at times.

I do take your point though that we should react more resolutely against change that we disapprove of. Religion has tried to give us rules to live by and failed, as have other authorities.

What is happening now is that we are being bullied into change that is not for our own good. But who dares to stand up and say- I do not give a fuck about refugees and poverty, they must solve their own problems, we must put our own interests first. Sure we can help and give advice but not if it puts ourselves and our kin in danger and impoverishes us. I am not a wicked and uncaring person, just sensible and practical.
It's like the erosion of the…tag:4freedoms.com,2021-01-27:3766518:Comment:2558832021-01-27T16:37:17.681ZAlan Lakehttp://4freedoms.com/profile/AlanLake

It's like the erosion of the coastline, only with political land. That's why, according to my edge theory, the edge has 2 strange properties:

The edge will be in an absurd place. If your edge is to protect female decency, then suppose that the skirt should be below the knee. But really, the knee isn't erotic, so why not have it just above the knee? Then there's no difference between just above the knee and 1 inch above the knee. This goes on up till you end up at the groin,…

The edge will be in an absurd place. If your edge is to protect female decency, then suppose that the skirt should be below the knee. But really, the knee isn't erotic, so why not have it just above the knee? Then there's no difference between just above the knee and 1 inch above the knee. This goes on up till you end up at the groin, where visible hair is taken as the 'marker line'. But then, after waxing, that line disappears as well. At the end of they day, you may as well have stuck with the knee position marker, because it will be just as arbitrary as all the rest.

The correct response to an edge incursion or breakage, will seem to be an over-reaction. So if the line is revised from below the knee to above the knee, you need to go crazy over it. That's what Muslims do, they understand this issue of edge management. This 'over-reaction' has the effect of tamping down the proponents of change, as they seek to erode away that edge.

Of course it is planned.

Why would the Vatican go from saying (1930s) that Islam is of the Devil to saying (1960s) Islam and Christianity are branches of the same religion? By the early 1970s even a French Marxist scholar of Islam was saying "Christianity has just become propaganda for Islam".

The Vatican has got the best part of 2000 years of continuity - knowledge, libraries, staff, history. They did a 180 degree turn at the same time that all of Europe began inviting Muslims into Europe. The people who run the Catholic Church are not uninformed. As an Israeli friend told me: outside of Israel the Vatican has got the largest group of Hebrew speakers.

When Pope Benedict was insufficiently submissive to Islam he had to resign - the first time in 1000 years when there were two living Popes.

By the year 2000 the UN was openly promoting its proposal for immigrants to replace the population of Europe. When Paul used to tell me this (2010 to 2017) I used to think "he's so rational about everything else, why does he believe this"? Then I finally went to look at the documents on the UN website and realised Paul was right: that they'd got away with population replacement at a level that they thought was unacceptable in 2000.

Philip Smeeton said:

But I doubt that any of this is planned, I put it down to lack of leadership and an unwillingness to recognise and deal with obviously destructive problems as they developed. Muslim immigration being just one, I would have stopped it completely and deported those already here. To me it is all stupidity and cowardice, and pipe dreams about some sort of impossibly ideal society (where everyone loves each other).

Joe: I don't believe there will be democracy by 2050.

I know what you mean, but to be precise, there will be holdouts like Switzerland, Monaco, Singapore, Japan and some traditional African countries like Kenya, for example. But what we think of as the traditional strongholds of democracy will be gone, yes.
