The 4 Freedoms Library

It takes a nation to protect the nation

Note their definition of "black": "Black can cover people of Arab, Asian, Chinese and African origin." Chinese are "black", Japanese are "white".  This is the same racist categorisation as used by apartheid South Africa.

NUJ guidelines on race reporting

Guidelines ratified by the National Union of Journalists (UK and Ireland) for all its members to follow when dealing with race relations subjects.

Statement on race reporting
1. The NUJ believes that the development of racist attitudes and the growth of fascist parties pose a threat to democracy, the rights of trade union organisations, a free press and the development of social harmony and well-being.

2. The NUJ believes that its members cannot avoid a measure of responsibility in fighting the evil of racismas expressed through the mass media.

3. The NUJ reaffirms its total opposition to censorship but equally reaffirms its belief that press freedom must be conditioned by responsibility and an acknowledgement by all media workersof the need not to allow press freedom to be abused to slander a section of the community or to promote the evil of racism.

4. The NUJ believes the methods and lies of the racists should be publicly and vigorously exposed.

5. The NUJ believes that newspapers and magazines should not originate materialwhich encourages discrimination on grounds of race or colour, as expressed in the NUJ's rule book and code of conduct.

6. The NUJ recognises the right of members to withhold their labour on grounds of conscience where employers are providing a platform for racist propaganda.

7. The NUJ believes that editors should ensure that coverage of race stories should be placed in a balanced context.

8. The NUJ will continue to monitor the development of media coverage in this area and give support to members seeking to enforce the above aims.

Race reporting
Only mention someone's race if it is strictly relevant. Check to make sure you have it right. Would you mention race if the person was white?

Do not sensationalise race relations issues; it harms black people and it could harm you.

Think carefully about the words you use. Words which were once in common usage are now considered offensive, e.g. half-caste and coloured. Use mixed-race and black instead. Black can cover people of Arab, Asian, Chinese and African origin. Ask people how they define themselves.

Immigrant is often used as a term of abuse. Do not use it unless the person really is an immigrant. Most black people in Britain were born here and most immigrants are white.

Do not make assumptions about a person's cultural background- whether it is their name or religious detail. Ask them or where it is not possible check with the local race equality council.

Investigate the treatment of black people in education, health, employment and housing.Do not forget travellers and gypsies. Cover their lives and concerns. Seek the views of their representatives.

Remember that black communities are culturally diverse.Get a full and correct view from representative organisations.

Press for equal opportunities for employment for black staff.

Be wary of disinformation.Just because a source is traditional does not mean it is accurate.

Reporting racist organisations
When interviewing representatives of racist organisations or reporting meetings or statements or claims, journalists should carefully check all reports for accuracy and seek rebutting or opposing comments. The anti-social nature of such views should be exposed.

Do not sensationalise by reports, photographs,. film or presentation the activities of racist organisations.

Seek to publish or broadcast material exposing the myths and lies of racist organisations and their anti-social behaviour.

Do not allow the letters column or 'phone-in' programmes to be used to spread racial hatred in whatever guise.

Guidelines on travellers
Only mention the word gypsy or traveller if strictly relevant and accurate.

Give balanced reports, seeking travellers' views as well as those of others, consulting the local travellers where possible.

Resist the temptation to sensationalise issues involving travellers, especially in their relations with settled communities over issues such as housing and settlement programmes and schooling.

Try to give wide coverage to travellers' lives and the problems they face.

Strive to promote the realisation that the travellers' community is comprised of full citizens of Great Britain and Ireland whose civil rights are seldom adequately vindicated, who often suffer much hurt and damage through misuse by the media and who have a right to have their special contributions to Irish and British life, especially in music and craft work and other cultural activities, properly acknowledged and reported.

Note how none of the professional standards accorded to giving fair reporting to black people are to be accorded to white people aka "fascists".  Whilst black people are to be considered to be diverse, all political opinion to which the presumptively left-wing journalists are opposed, is simply classed as "fascist".  Fascism and Nazism are not recognised as having any differences; but there are to be all shades of opinion within the black community.  Whilst "fascism" had no racial element the way that Nazism did, their guidelines on race reporting elide racists, fascists and nazis - and probably elide anyone who is more conservative than the Liberal Democrats (even though the Nazis and Fascists were avowed revolutionaries and socialists).

Every one of these injunctions is reversed when it comes to reporting on a group like the EDL:

  • Do not sensationalise
  • Think carefully about the words you use
  • Do not make assumptions about a person's cultural background
  • Investigate the treatment of white people in education, health, employment and housing.
  • Remember that white working-class communities are culturally diverse
  • Be wary of disinformation

"The NUJ reaffirms its total opposition to censorship but equally reaffirms its belief that press freedom must be conditioned by responsibility and an acknowledgement by all media workers of the need not to allow press freedom to be abused to slander a section of the community"

I'm sorry, but in what way is that not censorship?

They are flailing around like a beached whale because they haven't bitten the hard bullets of the 4 freedoms.  They want to have their cake and eat it, i.e. "uncensored speech", yet not allow speech they don't like.

The only non-contradictory rule for Free Speech is the first of our 4 freedoms:
Any speech allowed - except that advocating the end of free speech.

What a bunch of racist, bigoted morons.

Radio Netherlands & Free Speech - http://www.rnw.nl/english/article/faq-free-speech - also contains a section on Geert Wilders, replete with leftist acedemics complaining his show trial did not go as planned and gave him more credibility.

Andre Krouwel, a political scientist at Amsterdam's Free University, said that “This means that his political views are condoned by law, his political rhetoric has been legalised. This has made him stronger politically."

What did they expect?  They demanded a show trial, and all the attendant media attention.  It was a high-stakes game, and they lost.  I'd love to be playing for money against these dhimwits.

In his book “On Liberty" (1859) John Stuart Mill suggested that such laws amount to those which “prevent harm to others." But in 1895 Joel Feinberg argued that Mill’s definition should be broadened to include the concept of “offence” as well as “harm”.

The dhimwits can't' even find a major philosopher to counter Mill.  There is no argument from the bozo that counters Mill's view, just an assertion. An assertion that happens to support their political view.  They can't even get the bozo's century right: Feinberg was writing in the late 20th century, not the 19th.  What do they do?  Go to a book of quotes to get their arguments?  "This will do, this guy's famous".

The idiots on the left and the media think that all is required is more education.  Bring it on, sister!

When I've told people that Mohammed married a 6 year old, people don't believe it.  When I told them he was a mass murderer, people don't believe it.

The BBC gave us more education, and pointed out both those things.  The more education people get on islam, the more they dislike it.

What the leftist media types mean is "indoctrination".

Almost identical guidelines are to be found in Norway for their journalists:

GUIDELINES FOR NORWEGIAN JOURNALISTS ISSUED BY NJL (NORWEGIAN TRADE UNION FOR JOURNALISTS)

Be aware of the language you use. Try to use words and phrases that give an accurate and correct picture of Norwegian society. Avoid using language that creates unnecessary differences among the ethnic groups.

Avoid generalising when writing about immigrants; this will only strengthen negative stereotypes of people of non-Norwegian descent.

When writing about the multicultural society, try to focus on ordinary immigrants and how they experience everyday life in Norway.

Never reveal a person’s religion, ethnicity or cultural background if it’s not absolutely relevant to the case. Be very careful with this information when writing about incidents involving crime.

Always check facts and statistics. Be very careful with statistics that could strengthen negative stereotypes of ethnic minorities.

Feel free to write about negative incidents where immigrants are involved, but avoid angles that will give the entire immigration population a bad name.

Try to find as many sources as possible among the immigrant population. This will give you a wider perspective when writing stories about immigrants.

Try to avoid patriotic rhetoric in sport journalism. This will give room to negative stereotyping of foreigners. Try instead to focus on the contributions of foreigners in Norwegian sports.

Avoid uncritical reports of racial abuse. Always double check information and accusations originating from racist organisations. Always get information that will counter racist propaganda.

Try to stay clear of political rhetoric that will increase immigration phobia and increase hostility towards immigrants. Try to avoid writing stories that will increase hostilities between Norwegians and immigrants.

Try to describe how immigrants experience discrimination, racism and immigration phobia, and try to focus on how these things affect their lives.

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
