Fightback by Alinsky Techniques

All those who are happy to see the 4 Freedoms replaced by 4 Submissions, are our opponents. They don't care about the truth, or addressing our arguments, but merely attack us using Alinsky's dirty tricks. We should do the likewise.

Alinsky's 12 Rules for Radicals

  • Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have
Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.  (These are two things of which there is a plentiful supply. Government and corporations always have a difficult time appealing to people, and usually do so almost exclusively with economic arguments.)
  • Never go outside the expertise of your people
It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.  (Organizations under attack wonder why radicals don’t address the “real” issues. This is why. They avoid things with which they have no knowledge.)
  • Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy
Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.  (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)
  • Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules
If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.  (This is a serious rule. The besieged entity’s very credibility and reputation is at stake, because if activists catch it lying or not living up to its commitments, they can continue to chip away at the damage.)
  • Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon
There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.  (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)
  • A good tactic is one your people enjoy
They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones. (Radical activists, in this sense, are no different that any other human being. We all avoid “un-fun” activities, and but we revel at and enjoy the ones that work and bring results.)
  • A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag
Don’t become old news. (Even radical activists get bored. So to keep them excited and involved, organizers are constantly coming up with new tactics.)
  • Keep the pressure on. Never let up
Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.  (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)
  • The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself
Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
(Perception is reality. Large organizations always prepare a worst-case scenario, something that may be furthest from the activists’ minds. The upshot is that the organization will expend enormous time and energy, creating in its own collective mind the direst of conclusions. The possibilities can easily poison the mind and result in demoralization.)
  • If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive
Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog. (Unions used this tactic. Peaceful [albeit loud] demonstrations during the heyday of unions in the early to mid-20th Century incurred management’s wrath, often in the form of violence that eventually brought public sympathy to their side.)
  • The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative
Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
  • Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it
Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Excellent article on Obama's use of 6 of the Alinsky principles. (Frontpage discourages copying so I can only put the link here).

There's actually about 4 books on fighting the dirty Alinsky techniques:

Can anybody recommend which is best?

Whilst I still consider myself to be "a radical", I thought people might be interested to see the right-wing are now turning Alinsky back on the left:

I feel like Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard: It's not me that became illiberal, it's the liberals who are supporting the fascists.

And a good example of this is that Islamic charities care only for Muslims, but non-Muslim charities will care for anyone.

Islam, aims to divide the entire humanity sharply into two categories (without any grey area), namely (1) Muslims or Momens and (2) non-Muslim kafirs. In the eye of Allah, these kafirs are no better than animals and hence He instructs the Muslims to hate them and to mount any kind of torture and atrocities on them, kill them, burn them and their houses, take their women and children as captives and rape their women and so on.

So, the Koran says, “We have created, for hell, many genii (races) of men, ….and they are like brute beasts” (7.179) ; “Verily, those who disbelieve our signs, we will surely cast them to be broiled in the hell-fire, so often as their skins shall be well burnt, We will give them new skins in exchange, so that they may taste the sharper torment” (4.56) ; “Whosoever followeth any religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted of him in this life, and in the next life he shall be of those who perish” (3.85) ; “I will cast a dread into their hearts of the unbelievers” (8.12) ; “Therefore cut off their heads, and strike off all the ends of the fingers. This shall they suffer because they have opposed Allah and His Prophet, and whosoever shall oppose Allah and His Prophet, verily Allah will be severe in punishing them” (8.13); “moreover, as for the non-believers, I will punish them with grievous punishments in this world, and in the world is to come” (3.56); “Allah loves not the unbelievers” (3.57); “ they shall suffer a grievous punishment” (3.77).

So, it appears that, Islam is a creed of intense hate, or in other words, this intense hatred towards the kafirs is the foundation of Islam and instructs the Muslims to be harsh and cruel in dealing with the kafirs. So, Dr B R Ambedkar observed elsewhere: “Islam is a close corporation and the distinction that it makes between Muslim and non-Muslims is a very real, very positive and very alienating. … The brotherhood of Islam is not the universal brotherhood of man. It is the brotherhood of Muslims for Muslims only. There is a fraternity but its benefit is confined to the Muslims alone. For those who are outside the corporation, there is nothing but contempt and enmity.”

To highlight this aspect of Islam, Dr Ali Sina, the renowned scholar of Iran, says, “The Quran is a book full of hate of the nonbelievers. To overlook this fact is a gross error that could cost millions of lives. … In Islam, terrorism is prescribed in the Quran; it is encouraged and recommended. The prophet of Islam laid the example of terror for all followers to follow. He raided civilians, massacred his prisoners of war, raped their women (for example, Mohhammed raped Jewish woman Rehana after killing all her male family members) enslaved women and children, looted their belongings, assassinated his opponents, burned trees, and showed no mercy to any one who dared to stand in his way. Muslim terrorists are just doing that. You cannot fight Islamic terrorism without fighting Islam.”

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
