It takes a nation to protect the nation

With thanks to this website, which also gives the sources. I can't upload the docs because they exceed the 5MB limit of Ning:

That magazine is mind boggling.  Making bombs and so on is so easy.  Plus they give all the info you need (like encrypting communications) to defeat intelligence gathering activities.  To think that our so-called 'Security Services' have known about this stuff being in our country for years, and done nothing about it.

Please be aware that downloading those magazines may put you on the radar of the Security Services and grant you undesired attention.  Also, I think it may be an offence in the UK to possess them.

I will try review the content as much as I can, then post my reflections here, before deleting them from my hard disk.  To talk about Islamic Terrorism without reading Inspire magazine is a bit like discussing Christianity without reading the New Testament.

After scanning all the magazines, it becomes apparent that our governments are making a cover-up of the reality:

  • AQ have detailed instructions for all their operations and they are easy to perform
  • AQ have enough security instructions to allow their Western converts to remain undetected
  • Our societies are even more vulnerable than I ever imagined, after seeing the targets they've identified and how to attack them
  • The attacks by financial drain are just as important as the violent and terrorist ones
  • AQ firmly grounds all its beliefs in Islamic theology, in a pattern established by Bin Laden
  • Our response to their ideology is totally off-wack, and getting worse (with the prohibition on mentioning Islam, etc)

I think I've reviewed enough to give a basic idea of what Inspire magazine is all about.  It reflects very badly on both the performance and the fundamental strategic attitude of our security services and political leaders.

Note the pattern: detailed instructions on how to commit a terrorist operation X, followed by detailed theological justification for X based on Islamic scripture.  And our governments tell us there's no connection? Even when X is a:

  • pressure cooker bomb (issue 1)
  • forest fire
  • car burning

My Life in Jihad by Commander Uthman Al-Ghamidi

I was like any other young man running after making a living in a cheap world. I finished high school and then enlisted in the navy. I was in the navy for two years, oblivious to what was happening to my Islamic nation and caring for nothing but making ends meet. But I wasn’t happy. I was not feeling satis#ed and an internal con$ict within myself was brewing. That was until the day came when Allah guided me to the true path. I left my work and spent my time in the masjid. I began searching for opportunities of doing good to make up for my shortcomings towards my Muslim ummah for all of those long years. But I didn’t #nd what I was doing was enough. The Muslim ummah needed more than just relief work and sponsoring orphans and widows. It needed to be saved from its enemies that were surrounding it. It needed those who would cure its deep wounds and I knew that could not be achieved except through jihad and preparation for it. That is when I decided to go to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the land of mujahidin under the leadership of the Taliban. There I could receive the training I needed. But I could not travel since the Saudi government does not allow its military personal to travel outside of the country except after receiving a special permit and after long and complicated procedures. So I tried to get relieved from my military duty but there were some #nancial requirements that stood in the way. Therefore, I decided to #nd other means to get out of the country. I tried #nding help in obtaining a fake passport but to no avail. I prayed to Allah to make things easy for me. That is when I found a brother who not only arranged to get me a fake passport but he also provided me with the money needed for my journey. The zero hour approached and I greeted my family without telling them my destination of travel. I traveled through a few local airports before embarking on my trip to Karachi, Pakistan after transiting at Bahrain and Doha. With the help of Allah, the mujahidin are able to get over the most di!cult of obstacles. We should put our trust in Allah. After my arrival at Karachi airport, I took a taxi to a close-by hotel where I spent the night. The following day I called the coordinator to inform him of my arrival. Shortly after that, the hotel reception informed me of a man asking to see me. I carried my luggage and went out to meet the brother who came to pick me up in a taxi. The brother was Arab and after exchanging with him the agreed upon code words, I rode with him. I was impressed with the organization of the brothers, their transportation, communication network, their coordination, and they even provided new passports for us. They were like a state within the state. What was most impressive was their devotion to their work even though they were volunteers and were not receiving pay. During our ride to the guesthouse, the brother was taking every opportunity to welcome me. At the guesthouse I saw men from di"erent nationalities and they were all welcoming me with smiles on their faces. All of these brothers came together for one purpose: to serve Islam, and each one of them had his own program and destination to head towards. I put my bags in one of the rooms and met the Amir of the guesthouse who o"ered me to call my family to let them know that I arrived safely. I spent the night at the guesthouse and the following day arrangements were made for my trip to Afghanistan so I boarded a plane from Karachi airport to Quetta airport on the border with Afghanistan. From there we took a taxi towards the capital of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Qandahar. When we passed the Pakistani border, we prostrated to Allah to thank him for allowing us to reach Afghanistan. When we arrived at Qandahar, we were welcomed by brothers from the Taliban who used to repeat: “You are Arabs and we love you for the sake of Allah.” We were then taken to the guesthouse for the new arrivals. We arrived there at sunset and I spent my night with the best of all men. The following day we were woken up by the arrival of a few vehicles carrying armed men with a van in between. When the vehicles stopped, all the armed men disembarked their vehicles and gathered around the van and opened its door. To our surprise, Shaykh Usama came out to visit us and welcomed us himself. He greeted us one-by-one and was inquiring about our news. He was especially eager to inquire about news from the Arabian Peninsula. The Shaykh left after instructing us to leave for the Faruq camp. We prepared our luggage and the following day we were taken to the factory where real men are fashioned: the al-Faruq camp. It took us a few hours to get to the camp and when we arrived the instructors greeted us with smiles on their faces. When I saw how we were welcomed and greeted at this camp, I compared it to the way we were received at the navy. We were received with ridicule and profane words and I remember one of the o!cers saying: “leave your good manners, honor and manhood at the outside gate and when you leave you may take them back if you want but you are not allowed to have any of that in here. What we expect from you in this place is blind obedience.” After welcoming us, the instructors left except for one who introduced himself to us and told us that he is our instructor. He read to us some instructions and then took us around the camp and gave us a brief introduction to the training courses that were being o"ered. He left us to prepare ourselves for the start of our training the following day. Our training began and the hours and days passed with us going through a combination of military and religious training. From time to time Shaykh Usama would visit us to raise our spirits and encourage us. He would also tell us that some of our brothers were about to strike America on its soil and he would ask us to pray for them. After about a month, the Shaykh instructed us to be divided into groups. I was chosen among a group of #fty brothers to accompany the Shaykh. We left the camp in a bus and spent the night at a guesthouse. We were then taken to Kabul. After a few days we received the news of the assassination of Ahmad Shah Masood and we were very pleased to hear it. Then we headed towards Torgar, next to Jalalabad, in the East of Afghanistan. This is the same place were Shaykh Usama gave his famous oath: “America will not live in peace and security until we live it in Palestine.” During the day of our arrival, we were listening to the news attentively since the Shaykh told us the operation would be soon “so keep your ears close to the radio”. A few hours later the world was struck with the news of September 11th. We couldn’t believe it at #rst. We had humiliated America and struck it on its soil using its own planes as weapons. We damaged its economy and weakened its strength and we had them drink from the same cup they have been having our ummah drink from for years. Now we were equal, sending the clear message: We kill from you as you kill from us and as you strike terror in us we strike terror in you. That was a special day. The mujahidin were happy and they were happier when they saw the celebration of the Muslim ummah, especially our brothers in Palestine. The issue of Palestine was one of the main reasons for us attacking America. We wanted to take revenge for our brothers and sisters in Palestine by striking at the nation that is the reason behind the existence of Israel. It became clear to the close and far that the mujahidin are able to take revenge and defend the ummah even though they are undersized in numbers and provisions. After the celebrations, we began to prepare ourselves. The Shaykh along with some of the leaders moved to a secure location while we prepared the area for the #ght. We drew maps, surveyed the area, and dug trenches. A few days later we were instructed to head for Tora Bora and I was one of the #rst to go up the mountain. The mujahidin were trickling into the area until we reached a total of a little over three hundred #ghters (America falsely claimed that we were three thousand). We began preparing the area for the #ght with America and its allies by digging trenches and taking our defensive positions on the mountains. On the 7th of October 2001, the Americans started their bombing campaign. They began with Kandahar followed by Kabul, Jalalabad and Tora Bora. The bombing was atrocious but the mercy of Allah was surrounding us and we fell into a deep sleep. The next day I asked some of the other brothers I met and they described going through the same experience. The bombing over Tora Bora was increasing. It was relentless. That was because of the rumors that Shaykh Usama and Dr. Ayman were present. They were with us and they were going through what we were going through. They refused to leave us except one day before our retreat and only after our insistence that they must evacuate the area. Bombs were falling like rain. But the mercy of Allah was also falling down on us like a rain that was much heavier and mightier than all the rockets and bombs that America could send. There was no #ght on the ground except with the Afghan hypocrites during the #nal twelve days. We received our orders to retreat to Pakistan. We left Tora Bora and left behind us the memory of those eventful days. We also left behind #fty martyrs whom musk emanated from their bodies. After a march of three days where we would drink and eat snow and sleep over snow; where we would descend a mountain only to climb another, we reached to a tribe on the Pakistani border. The tribe welcomed us and hosted us in their homes but we didn’t know that we were in the wrong place. We trusted them and gave them our weapons in order to make our movements easy inside Pakistan. After one day, they gathered us into a masjid where we found three buses parked outside and the entire area surrounded by the Pakistani police and army. We realized that this tribe had entrapped us and that we had been sold o" to the Pakistani government. We were around a hundred brothers. Some of us tried to run away from the masjid. I was one of those. There was another brother with me and then a short while later we were joined by a third. We asked a tribe member to help smuggle us to the gulf, which he agreed to do, and he hosted us in his house. A fourth brother joined us so we divided into two groups of two. The #rst group reached safely but my companion and I fell into a checkpoint, got arrested and were beaten badly because we tried to resist. We were then taken to a nearby prison where we stayed for a day before we were transported to Kohat military prison. In Kohat, when we saw our other imprisoned mujahidin brothers, the imprisonment became easy on us. During this time the Pakistani government interrogated us and following that we were visited by the FBI who took our photographs and #ngerprints. We stayed in this prison between two to three weeks. Following that we were transported in large American cargo airplanes. The journey took a few hours before we landed in Qandahar where the Americans set up a temporary base. We were taken away to the base in a very brutal way. On the base, various forms of horri#c methods of torture were used on the prisoners. The torture led to the deaths of some of the brothers. The Americans were also using a variety of means to insult our religion. The duration of our stay on the base varied. Some stayed for a few weeks and others for a few months. I chose to be straightforward with the investigators and I told them that I was in Afghanistan for the purpose of jihad and that I trained at al-Faruq camp. This led to my speedy transport to Guantanamo Bay prison. My stay on the base was for a total of two weeks. I was taken on board a cargo plane for a long journey. Scenes of this journey were shown on the media. In that journey we were not allowed to speak or move and we were prevented from seeing or hearing anything. The journey was for more than 24 hours. We were greeted at Guantanamo with swearing and beating as we were dragged to our cells. That is when the dirty American program began against us. They insulted our religion and we were subjected to physical and psychological forms of torture through sleep deprivation and exposure to hot and cold weather in special rooms. We were also used as guinea pigs for their experiments. For example, they would experiment certain drugs on us so that one would #nd one of us for days unable to sleep while his neighbor is sleeping endlessly for a few days. One of the brothers would joke and say: “It seems the Americans have taken us as spare parts for themselves”. They would expose us to hunger and they would try to seduce some of us through women. Nevertheless, with all this torture and temptation, Allah was protecting us. We would defend the Qur’an and take from them what we wanted by force. The Muslim is honorable if he takes jihad as his path. We were able to receive news of the mujahidin, even though thousands of kilometers stood between us and the lands of jihad. Sometimes we would know about something happening in the world without actually hearing the speci#c news about it. For example, we would know about a defeat of the Americans when the $ags on the base would $y at halfsta ". Sometimes news would reach us about Afghanistan. During that time we heard a lot about Abu Layth al-Libi. We would also receive news about our brothers in the Arabian Peninsula and we were with them with our souls and prayers. One day the prison guards came in happy and they were dancing. When we asked them what was the reason of their joy, they said that the U.S. has invaded Iraq. One of them proudly said: “Yesterday we took Afghanistan, today we have taken Iraq, and tomorrow we will take Makkah.” That is their plan and one of them said that that is what they were taught at church. However, their dreams were shattered by the real men of the ummah such as Abu Mus’ab al- Zarqawi. We used to threaten them and anger them with the name of al-Zarqawi to the extent that some of them would return to apologize to us for what they had done. There were some soldiers who committed suicide before being deployed to Iraq because of their fear of Abu Mus’ab and the mujahidin. The sacri#ces of the mujahidin played a role in our release from Guantanamo. In fact they are the main reason behind our release as one of our lawyers said: “The path of the legal system is a long one and it will not get you out of here any time soon, but the knife of Abu Mus’ab al- Zarqawi would.” After spending #ve years at Guantanamo, I was told that I would be released. But my release was delayed for a month because I told them as soon as I am released I would join the mujahidin again. During this month, they killed three of the prisoners in the same section of the prison where I was located. With my imminent release after #ve years of captivity, feelings of sadness and happiness were overcoming me. Farewell was very di!cult. My heart was tearing apart for having to depart from the brothers whom I spent the past #ve years with. We were transported in a large armored bus to the airport where a Saudi jet was waiting for us. There were sixteen of us and we boarded the jet. It had seventy men onboard, the crew plus men from the intelligence service and police. We boarded the plane while giving a #nal glance at Guantanamo Bay, the place that Allah blessed us with raising on it the call to prayers and worshiping Him on its soil. The plane landed in Riyadh after transiting in Morocco for refueling. At our arrival in Riyadh, we were taken by bus to the prison of al-Hayer. This is the prison where our great scholars, chaste sisters, and mujahidin brothers have been imprisoned for many long years. When we reached it, they put us all in a cell where we remained for three months. We were released for a week and during that week I got married. They then put us back in jail for four months. The government o!cers interrogated us and we were subjected to a rehabilitation program where we would meet with government clerics who would try to convince us that jihad today is haram unless the ruler allows it. How can the ruler who is himself an apostate and is an agent of the Americans order jihad against America! These Shaykh’s requested us to condemn the work of the mujahidin of Arabia such as al-Miqrin and al-Awfi but we refused. One of our brothers refused to shake hands with Muhammad bin Nayef (Assistant Secretary of Defense) because he said his hands are soaked with the blood of our mujahidin brothers. Until the moment of writing these lines, this brother is still behind bars, may Allah hasten his release. Another brother was given money to get married but he used the money to #nance a mujahid who was going to Afghanistan. Out of their foolishness, the al-Saud government thought that they could buy us as they have bought their clerics such as those in this rehabilitation program. I will give one example of the Shaykh’s in this program: One brother was being advised by this Shaykh who told him that du`a alone is su!cient and that there is no need for jihad. So the brother asked him: “If someone comes in to your house and wants to rape your wife, would you just make du`a and not defend her?” The Shaykh said: “Yes. I would make du`a and I would say to him: I ask Allah that you do not enjoy her!” These are the Shaykh’s of these rehabilitation programs, the slaves of money. When our days in prison were over, we were released from the small prison to a larger one. We were freed but we were still like prisoners. We were hounded by the intelligence services and their laws and regulations were being pounded on us. We were continuously being called in for questioning and they would use the excuse that they just wanted to check on our wellbeing. The vehicles of the intelligence services would follow us wherever we went. Our every move was being monitored. We were then banned from traveling to any local city except after obtaining a written permission. We had to furnish information on the type of vehicle we intended to use for travel, the number of people who would accompany us along with their names, the place of destination, the exact locations we planned on visiting, when we would return, and we had to provide mobile contact numbers that could be used whenever they wanted to contact us. Restrictions were increasing by the day. During this time we were searching for ways to join our brothers at the fronts of jihad. We were able to establish some contact with our brothers in Yemen. We prepared our departure route but the surveillance on us was increasing. My entire village was being surrounded and wherever I went, I would be followed overtly. This shameless pursuit would occur even if I was being accompanied by my family. If I went into a masjid to pray, they would come in to pray. If I entered a store, they enter after me, if I ride my car they ride theirs, if I come out of my car they would come out of theirs. I prayed istikhara and decided to start my journey towards Yemen. When I did, heavy rain fell which made visibility so di!cult that I was able to sneak out in the presence of all the intelligence o!cers that were following me. All praise is due to Allah. I wish that I had put dirt on their heads just like the Messenger of Allah ! did in his hijra to let them know that I was about to make my own hijra too. We traveled to join our beloved mujahidin brothers. We traveled to the land of honor. We passed through until we reached the border of Yemen where we left behind our car and left behind us this worthless world to go to the land of iman, the land of the ansar who have given the greatest examples of supporting, hosting, and sacri#cing for the religion. Their welcoming of us was amazing. We are now living with the #nest of brothers. Finally, I have this message to the al- Saud rulers: Die in your rage. I ask Allah to grant us steadfastness and support and I encourage my brothers to prepare for jihad and to #ght jihad. The doors of jihad are many and one of them is the individual jihad. Dear brother, never belittle your ability. Ramzi Yusuf was a single individual and yet he was an example of someone who fought jihad alone. Do not let the American soldier, the British or Danish soldier or any other disbelieving soldier be better than you in defending his principles and realize that this is the price you need to pay for Paradise. Paradise is where you will see things which an eye has never seen, an ear has never heard and a mind has never imagined.

Here's a few points from his story:

my release was delayed for a month because I told them as soon as I am released I would join the mujahidin again

You have to admire the mans honesty.  So Borat Obama gave you 1 MONTH of extra safety from this committed terrorist!  Is it any wonder they call the Kuffar, dumb cattle?

We were released [from the Saudi prison] for a week and during that week I got married

Nice work if you can get it :-)

Out of their foolishness, the al-Saud government thought that they could buy us as they have bought their clerics such as those in this rehabilitation program

Oh please!  They aren't half as foolish as the US and UK governments.

The Islamist mind is so laden with self-contradiction, its a wonder they don't feel it themselves. These are just 4 points on issue 2 page 7.

  • They complain that the FBI deleted 64 pages from Issue 1 and ask why they are so scared?  Well, considering it contained the kitchen bomb instructions as used at the Boston Marathon, I don't think it was a rabid ideological fear.
  • They complain that Sharif Mobley was attacked by 8 Yemeni policeman, even though he was a US citizen.  Come on guys, make your minds up.  You either like being a US citizen or you don't.  You can't demand the benefits and still detest the designation.
  • They say that most Americans are against the building of the Cordoba mosque and see this as a sign of American DISCRIMINATION! So Muslims kill 3000 American civilians, then demand to put a victory mosque on the site, AND they get permission, but the fact that some aren't happy about it is a sign of discrimination?  We seem to be dealing with petulant, spoiled children here.
  • They complain about the Terry Jones Quran burning, then say that "Under an Islamic state, it would be forbidden for even a Muslim to burn copies of the Bible, for example".  Really?  Well I guess in Nigeria, in Indonesia, in Philippines, in Egypt, in Turkey, in Pakistan and so on, Muslims must have crept in at night and removed all the Bibles before burning the churches down!  Next time they should video the bible removal and put that on Youtube as well.

Interview with Shaykh Abu Sufyan

Vice Amir of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula

Al-Malahem (AM): In the beginning we welcome Shaykh Abu Sufyan al- Azdi. We begin by asking about your experience at Guantanamo where you were imprisoned for almost six years. Please tell us about the reasons of your imprisonment and how were you treated.

Abu Sufyan (AS): All praise is due to Allah who blessed us with the blessing of jihad in His path. The reason behind my imprisonment is supporting Islam and the Muslims in Afghanistan. In the battle of Qandahar Airport, I was injured and taken into Pakistan where I was later arrested by the Pakistani army who then took me to Quetta Military Hospital. The Americans came to interrogate me but I refused to speak to them. Then I was visited by interrogators from the government of al-Saud who promised to take me back to the land of the Two Holy Mosques in a specially charted medical jet but I refused to speak to them too. So the Pakistani government handed me over to the American army in Quetta Airport. The Americans transported me from Quetta Airport to Qandahar and then to Cuba. The treatment of the Americans was the treatment of an enemy to an enemy and this is natural but what I did not expect is to find the Americans to be a people without any principles, whether we are talking about moral principles or general human values. But also that is not unexpected from a nation that is leading the world into a moral decay that makes humans equal to animals. In fact animals have more values than some Americans. It is part of their so called civilization to turn women into a roaming toilet which could be used casually by men. One of the things that bothered us in prison was their attempts to seduce us through their women but all praise is due to Allah, we were protected from this human trash. Regarding torture I think that many of my brothers have already spoken extensively about that so there is no need to repeat it here.

AM: After spending this time in prison and being exposed to this inhumane treatment, did your view of Americans change?

AS: Yes it changed. Before imprisonment I used to think that there was some bottom-line humanity left in the Americans as is found in human beings in general regardless of the di"erences in beliefs and the fact that we are enemies. But after I got to deal with them directly, I came to the conclusion that mankind needs to protect its humanity by #ghting Americans who are the enemies of the human race.

AM: After six years of imprisonment you were released without a court proceeding and you were handed over to the Saudi government who held you in prison for seven months. Why did you head towards Yemen even though the Saudi government said that it has subjected the Guantanamo inmates to a rehabilitation program?

AS: I headed towards Yemen because the mujahidin in Yemen have raised their banner. The Muslims are still being killed, manmade laws are still ruling over our land, the disbelievers are still on the soil of the Arabian Peninsula, and our honor is being violated. All of these are reasons why I cannot put down my arms. The rehabilitation program you referred to was basically a set of new religious beliefs imposed by the American tyrants on the Muslim societies and is being enforced by the traitor governments of the Muslim world. Whoever goes against these beliefs is imprisoned or murdered and unfortunately there are some who wear the cloak of scholarship but have sold their religion for a cheap price and they are marketing these false beliefs

I am proud to be a traitor to America - by Samir Khan

I knew I had to rush out of America before the FBI got me in for a flimsy excuse as they have done to individuals like Tariq Mehanna. Even when in Sana'a, I caught one of their agents spying on me near my hotel. As I left Sana'a, I was surprised that they all easily fell for my cover. Throughout my experience of traveling from America to Yemen, I was expecting to be stopped and detained.  But the most trouble I went through – if it’s even considered trouble – was that it took thirty minutes extra to get my boarding pass in North Carolina since, as the receptionist told me, I was being watched.

It still surprises me when I reflect on it; I mean, I was quiet open about my beliefs online and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that I was al Qaeda to the core. That proved to my soul that if Allah wants to protect you, no one has the power on earth to harm you. I was to learn that lesson continually in close encounters with death later on ...

But there is an alternative conclusion, apart from the one that Allah is protecting you.  It is that our so-called security services are nothing but a sham, put there to placate the populace and keep the politicians in power, while the forces of Islam grow more powerful every day.

There's an article on Obama on issue 2 page 23, with this choice nugget:

Jihad is the peak of Islam and the operation that the mujahidin performed on the 11th of September represents a virtuous act. The mujahidin performed their duty against American  oppression.  The mujahidin by the will of Allah will carry on jihad to establish justice between mankind and to remove American oppression and tyranny. America is arrogantly corrupting on earth and has killed innocent women and children in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Yemen  through their bombings. America has killed more than a million and a half Iraqi children during their ten-year embargo on that nation.

What is staggering here is that the murder of 3000 US civilians on 9/11 is fine, but any deaths of Iraqis allegedly caused by SANCTIONS is clear murder.  In any case, the sanctions explicitly exempted humanitarian goods, but as far as I know, Saddam appropriated a lot of them, and either had them for his preferred people, or used them for trading.

As regards the deaths by bombings, nearly all the bombing deaths were from the insurgency, i.e. part of Al Qaeda's own operations or inspiration!  The actual Iraqi war was so efficient, only about 2000 Iraqis were killed in it.  The following 100,000+ is due to AQ and Shia-Sunni fighting.  Still, AQ is happy to blame that on the Americans.

This attitude is also echoed on page 6:

America has declared the end of combat operations in Iraq, the death trap which sent the entire country into a spiral ...

Really?  And just who's fault would that spiral be?  The conceit is staggering.

You clearly see here the Apartheid mindset of the Islamist.  The dumb kuffar simply don't count as human; their statistics are not even racked up.  If you kill 3000 of them, well, its as if you just slaughtered some dumb cattle for market.  But for every single Muslim death, even ones they self-inflicted, the non-Muslim will have to pay a price.

On page 8 there is this question:

Not a single shred of evidence has been produced to incriminate Imam Anwar al-Awlaki; so why has the US Government put him on their hit list?

Well this is a bit rich, since Inspire1 contained a hit list of US citizens, prompting the FBI to make this statement:

"We understand the absolute seriousness of a threat from an Al Qaeda-inspired magazine and are attempting to do everything in our power to assist the individuals on that list to effectively protect themselves and change their behavior to make themselves less of a target."
[David Gomez, FBI assistant special agent, speaking on the hitlist in the First issue]

But of course, Islam does not follow the Golden Rule of equal rights for all.  It is therefore perfectly OK for them to issue a hit list, but if anyone does it to their people, well, that's just plain dirty!  Then, just as you were getting your mind accustomed to the innocence of Anwar al-Awlaki and thinking how unfair the dirty Americans are to skip proper Judicial process in naming him, you find on page 33 of the same issue, a 4-page article by no other than Anwar al-Awlaki.  Has this got folded in at the printers by accident perhaps? Or perhaps its a different Anwar al-Awlaki?  Now I'm totally confused.

I'm guessing that Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri is also unjustly named on the US hit list, but then on page 32 he does say:

Uniting of the Ummah must be around the word of the Tawheed

And the unity of the Umah cannot possibly be achieved on the basis of compromise on the Shari'ah's right to rule

Nor on the basis of respect for international resolutions ...

The US should just accept that Shariah has a fundamental and inalienable right to rule all peoples then they wouldn't have to put him on their hit list. Simples!

The whole magazine is choc full of articles on Jihad, from basic instructions on software security, to how to make bombs, to biographical stories, to statement of martyrdom rewards, to repeated exhortations to get out of your pathetic Westernised shell and start fighting.

There is also this admonition:

Do not attempt to travel overseas to join the mujahidin in an overt manner. ... We strongly encourage our brothers to fight jihad on US soil.  In fact, even if traveling to join the fronts of jihad was accessible and easy, we would still encourage them to perform operations in the West. To kill a snake, strike its head.

With very detailed and even professional instructions on how to avoid detection.  So how many embryonic jihadi cells do we have in the UK? in the USA?  How many of those are half-formed, but given some new cause of 'offence', will suddenly harden and spring into action?  There are potentially thousands.

Which begs the question: since the security services can't possible track and stop that many, what should we be doing?  And the answer is clear, the counter-measures need to be pro-active and political, not just re-active and intelligence gathering.

Islam needs to be identified and  targeted as a fascist political ideology, and steps taken appropriate to such a 5th column movement which uses both overt violence and covert threats, both visible political pressure and invisible infiltration of our institutions, in order to take over a society from within.

I just had to add this final statement from Issue 3.  They know that an operation costing $4,200 can cost the West billions of dollars in follow up counter measures.  There is so much that our governments and security services are hiding from us, so that we don't become even more upset and worried than we are now.  Check this out.

Operation Hemorrhage

All praise is due to Allah and may His peace and blessings be upon His Messenger and his companions and family.
Allah says: {And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure} [8: 59]

We, in the al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula would like to convey to our nation the glad news and the awaited surprise:
We have been enabled by Allah to blowup a UPS cargo plane on the 3rd of September, 2010, after its takeof
from Dubai International Airport.
We have succeeded in bringing down the UPS plane but because the enemy’s media did not attribute the operation to
us we have remained silent so we may repeat the operation. This time we sent two explosive packages, one was sent
through UPS, and the other through FedEx.

We would like to ask: Why didn’t the enemy reveal the truth about what happened with the downed UPS plane? Is it because the enemy could not discover why the plane was brought down? Or was it because the Obama administration wanted to conceal the truth so it doesn’t expose the failure of his administration especially that it was during an election season?

We would like to say to Obama: We have struck against your aircrafts twice within one year and we will continue directing
our blows towards your interests and the interests of your allies.
With the praise of Allah, our developed explosive device gives the option of detonation in the air or at the point of arrival
and it is designed to evade the latest bomb detection methods.
We would like to tell the al-Saud government that Allah has exposed your treason and collaboration with the Zionists.
The packages were being sent to Jewish synagoges and yet you interfered to defend them. May Allah’s curse be upon
the transgressors.
Since the two operations have succeeded, it is our plan to disseminate the idea to the mujahidin worldwide and to
expand its deployment onto both Civilian aircraft in the West as well as Cargo aircraft.
Our Shaykh Usama bin Ladin, may Allah protect him, said: “If our messages can reach you by words, then they wouldn’t
have traveled by planes…”
May peace and blessings be upon His Messenger and his family.

Issue 4: Do you ever wonder why we don't get many informants about the Western Jihadis?

Inspire Issue 8: Q-A

Here Inspire talks a lot of sense.  So you can see how Muslims in the UK can be drawn into it.

What is your analysis on the riots that took place across the United Kingdom?

After studying the issue at hand for sometime, it appears that it was a mixture of issues that caused the riots to sweep across the country. It's important to know this because it exposes to the world the frailty of one of the world's leading democracies. That is, how can the UK government dare fight to change Afghanistan into a democracy (minus shari`ah, of course) when their own backyard is in a mess? It's quite paradoxical of them to do so. The British citizens rising up is not a surprise considering the complaints of the average people there.

The student protests that occurred earlier this year confirms the largely discontented sentiment of the masses; they are simply fed up with their government.

The intriguing thing is that a lot of these problems stem from the role the family units play in their homes and societies. Because the government has imposed a handsoff policy on the parents towards their children, it takes away the natural right of a mother or father to discipline their child accordingly. The child can dial the number for the police and land their parent(s) in jail should he/she lay a hand on them. When the right to discipline the child is taken away, it gives way to criminality.

There is also the issue of high divorce rates amongst the parents which in itself has a lot to do with adultery; a much encouraged act in Western societies, incidentally. When parents divorce, it almost always leaves a negative effect on the children who then turn to illegal and harmful stimulants to take them away from the pain.

The sale and usage of drugs amongst the youth in the UK for example, is an embarrassing statistic for any government to have. So government interference in the family sector is certainly a cause for such behavior.

Another cause is related to the injustices of the state and police. The police especially have a history of imparting injustice towards the people. Due to the numerous complaints, they changed their policies and behavior towards the people recently, resulting in a punching bag approach; that was best displayed during the riots as the youth felt immortal from the police's grip for once. Additionally, the issue of the social classes and poverty played a role. The overall majority of those youth were not from the well off communities; rather, many of them came from backgrounds where they have to make ends meet everyday.

Last but not least, the hip-hop thug culture - which is applauded in Western media - has a major effect on the way its followers think. Its music, which is the focal point of this culture, is the voice of the criminals (and criminal wannabes) in society. Some may argue that that's an overstatement. The utter reality is that the better part of their music is filled with criminal slogans of murder, gang allegiances, references to women as sexual objects, and the advocacy of the superiority of scantily clad women. From associating oneself to this thug way of life, nine times out of ten, a rebellious youth is born with detestable ethics. So all the social evils that Islam has the solution to, are the problems of the British society. A return to the fundamentals of what is virtuous and immoral is a good place to start. Equally, it can be argued that the politicians calling for law and order to fight corruption are the slowest in doing the same for what goes on in the upper levels of major corporations and government institutions.

What is your take on al-Jazeera's series "9/11 Decade"? Do you agree to everything stated in it?

There were a few things we disagreed with. For example, their equating of al-Zarqawi's decapitation of "civilians" with America's helicopter incident leaked by Wikileaks, suggesting that both sides lost the media war in Iraq, is not politically correct. Firstly, the prisoners in al-Zarqawi's hands were not "civilians" but those who were actively participating in the building of America's empire. The ones killed by America however, had nothing to do with anything. Secondly, there is no statistic evidence to suggest that al Qaeda's support waned after the decapitations. As a matter of fact, al Qaeda's support has only grown throughout the past few years.

Another thing was that they admitted that they held back on showing some of Shaykh Usama's tapes because of it being full of religious discourse. By doing that, they actually alter the image of al Qaeda since we are all about religious discourse; everything we do, say and plan is from religious backing. So his tapes would give the masses an idea of how he came to his political conclusions of taking up war against the West.

Finally, throughout their series, they tend to look at the past ten or so years in light of the revolutions taking place around the Muslim world, concluding that al Qaeda is no longer relevant and that the clash of Islam and the West is a concept that's going downhill. We argue that their understanding of the revolutions is erroneous by placing it over the events of jihad. We say that the revolutions and the global jihad are events that are both growing together on the same level. With the people struggling to remove the tyrants, this only makes our job of da`wah easier. With some of the tyrants gone, the ruthlessness of their aggression against Islam and the Muslims also vanishes. Al-Jazeera has seem to forgotten that we are an Islamic movement and that anything that is in the benefit of Islam's establishment is what we wholly support. Shaykh Ayman al-Zawahiri, for example, called to sparking revolutions in Egypt years before they actually occurred; this is more than enough evidence that we support activities that further helps the cause of Islam, even if jihad is not used. The clash of civilizations is far from over unlike what al-Jazeera presumed. To assume that this idea is going downhill is to live in a fairytale world. A glance at the recent protests in Egypt against the Israeli embassy is a proof of this. Do such protests benefit America or their archenemy, the mujahidin? Also, are the Muslims worldwide now going to forgive and forget everything America has done in the past? We highly doubt that especially when their aggression on the Muslims continue. Lastly, we have seen images on Press TV — an Iranian channel — of Egyptians burning American flags at the protests and chanting anti-American slogans. Why does al-Jazeera fail to display these images? We believe it's because they have an agenda.

Inspire Issue 8 page 41: (Strange how none of this theology gets discussed when we talk about Islamic terrorism, isn't it?)

Targeting the Populations of Countries that are at War with Muslims - by Shaykh Anwar al-Awlaki

Inspire magazine has announced that it would be holding a video session with myself to answer the questions we receive from our readers. The most frequently asked question was about the legality of targeting non-combatants in countries that are at war with the Muslims. This issue is surrounded with confusion and because of its importance and relevance to today's jihad, I would devote this article to answering it based on the evidence from Qur’an and Hadîth as well as the actual practices of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), his companions and the consecutive generations of the mujahidin. We will also look into the realities of today's jihad and what methods of war are needed for its success (fiqh al-wâqi`). This is the summary of the fiqh of the issue at hand.

• The scholars have divided the people of dâr al-harb into combatants and non-combatants.
• The scholars agree that all combatants may be targeted. With the category of non-combatants it is more complex.
• Scholars agree that women and children should not be intentionally targeted.
• The scholars differed however on the ruling concerning the elderly, farmers, merchants and slaves.
• But they all agree that if women, the elderly, farmers, merchants or slaves participate in the war effort against Muslims either by actual participation in fighting, financial contribution or opinion, they become legitimate targets.
• If combatants and non-combatants are mixed together and integrated, it is allowed for the Muslims to attack them even if women, children, the elderly, farmers, merchants and slaves get killed but this should only be done with the intention of fighting the combatants.
• If Muslims kill non-combatants in fighting there is no liability on the Muslims. There is no retribution, no blood money to be paid and there is no sin on the Muslims in the eyes of Allah.
• If Muslims get killed unintentionally or by mistake during the fight with the disbelievers, there is no sin on the Muslim who killed him but there is a kaffârah which is fasting two months or feeding sixty poor persons. There is a difference of opinion whether blood money should be paid.
• Non-combatants should not be executed if they fall into captivity. • Islam does not allow the enemy to use our rules against us and to use our rules to our disadvantage.
• The consideration of the continuation of jihad and the victory of the Muslims should always take precedence when the scholar gives a fatwa on a matter relating to jihad

• The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“Do not kill an old man or a child or a woman.”2
• The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم found a woman killed in one of his battles and said: “She is not a

Our scholars have used the terms muqâtilah and ghayr muqâtilah which translates into “combatants” and “non-combatants” respectively to classify the disbelievers who are at war with the Muslims. It is the consensus of the scholars that Muslims should not kill the women and children of the disbelievers intentionally. It is the word “intentionally” that should be explained here because it qualifies the above statement and a lack of understanding this rule is what leads to the confusion that surrounds this issue today. What is meant is that women and children should not be singled out for killing; women and children should not be killed if they fall into captivity and if they can be separated from the combatants in war they should. But in no way does it mean that Islam prohibits the fighting against the disbelievers if their men, women and children are intermingled. This understanding is very dangerous and detrimental to jihad and awareness on this issue is very important. To stop the targeting of disbelievers who are at war with the Muslims just because there are women and children among them leads to constraints on today’s jihad that make it very difficult, and at times, impossible to fight and places the Muslims at a great dis- 2 Narrated by Abu Dawood with an agreeable chain of narration. 3 Narrated by Abu Dawood and al-Hakim and is Sahîh. advantage compared to their enemy. To properly understand this issue let’s look at the statements of the scholars regarding attacking the enemy in their dwellings and laying siege to their towns. During the time of the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? there was a form of fighting called bayat. This is when the enemy would be attacked at night under the cover of darkness. The attackers would ambush the enemy in their tents and houses and engage them in fighting. This would lead to the deaths of men, women and children who were in the tents or homes because of the difficulty in distinguishing the difference between man, woman and child. So is this form of fighting allowed in Islam? The answer is yes. The Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? was asked about the ruling concerning the women and children who get targeted in bayat. The Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? said in an authentic narration: “They belong to them.” Which means that the ruling of the women and children is the same as that for the combatant men whom it is allowed to kill. The Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? permitted his companions to engage in this form of fighting even though, at occasions, entire families would be killed. Salamah said: “I myself have killed the inhabitants of nine houses.”4 Imam Ahmad was asked about bayat. He said: “And is the fighting against the Romans but bayat?”5 In other words, Imam Ahmad not only approves of bayat but also states that it is the most common method of war employed by the Muslims against the Romans. There is no difference in ruling between bayat and detonating 4 Mu`jim al-Tabarani. 5 Al-Mughnî, Ibn al-Qudamah. a bomb in a populated center in a nation that is at war with the Muslims. Just as the swords of the companions and those who followed them could not distinguish between man, woman and child and yet were allowed to engage in bayat, why should we ban bombings of populated areas in disbelieving countries? The matter of bayat is agreed upon to the extent that Imam Ahmad said: “We do not know of anyone who discouraged bayat.”6 The other method of fighting which is relevant to our discussion is setting the catapult or mangonel against the cities of the disbelievers. The scholars of sîrah mentioned that the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? set up the mangonel against al- Taif and that Amr bin al-Aas used it against Alexandria in Egypt. The mangonel would strike its missiles against the city and did not distinguish between man, woman or child. The ruling on using the mangonel against the enemy is summarized by Ibn Rushd who states that: “It is the consensus of the jurists that it is allowed to set up catapults against the forts of the disbelievers whether there are women and children in them or not because of what was narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? set up the mangonel against the people of al-Taif.”7 Imam al-Shafi’i says: “It has been reported to us that the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? set up the mangonel against al-Taif. So if it was necessary for the Muslims to not target the disbelievers because of the existence of children amongst them, the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? would have prohibited that because 6 Ibid. 7 Bidâyat al-Mujtahid. their cities and fortresses are not without women, children, elderly, (Muslim) prisoners, and merchants. This narration from al-Taif (that he used the mangonel) and others is well preserved and well known from the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? and his sîrah. It has also been the practice of the Muslims and the righteous predecessors from the companions of Muhammad ??? ???? ???? ???? to be as such in regards to the fortresses of the disbelievers before us and it has not been reported to us that any one of them stopped targeting a fortress by mangonel or other forms of weaponry just because of the existence of women, children or others who should not be killed among them.” After mentioning that it is allowed to use the mangonel, Imam al-Mawardi says that: “The prohibition of the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? of killing women and children applies to when they fall captive since they are booty for the Muslims. But when the women and children are in the land of war they can be targeted as their men because the land of war is a land that is permissible (to target its people).”8 But even with the mangonel, the scholars allowed its use against civilian targets based on the need. Imam al-Shafi’i states that if the Muslims are at a distance from the fort or the town they should fire only at the walls and not at the homes of the disbelievers. 9 However, if they are close to the walls then they are allowed to fire at the homes. Again, with the mangonel just as with bayat, it leads to the loss of lives of non-combatants. A mangonel missile that strikes at a city and which is by no means an accurate weapon is no different than bombing a city of a nation that is at war with the Muslims. Therefore from the above two pieces of evidence it becomes clear that Muslims are allowed to target the populations of countries that are at war with the Muslims by bombings or firearm attacks or other forms of attacks that inevitably lead to the deaths of non-combatants. 8 Al-Umm. 7 Ibid. Notice that I haven't even brought up the evidence of treating the enemy as they treat us. With all the aggression the West is committing against the Muslims this additional evidence leaves no room for those who argue on behalf of the general populations of the West. It is important to look into the foundations, which our classical scholars based their fatâwâ on concerning jihad to see why they came to different conclusions compared to many scholars of today. • Imam Abu Zakaria al-Ansari: “It is allowed to set up the mangonel on a fort even if it would strike (the non-combatants) so that they do not use that as a way to disable jihad or as a ruse to keep their fortresses and in that is great evil.”10 • Imam al-Nawawi: “If there is in the town or the fortress a Muslim, a (Muslim) prisoner, a merchant, a disbeliever who is given peace, or a group of the aforementioned, is it allowed to tar  get the population with fire or mangonels and what is similar to that? There are different ways in the madhab (school of thought). First, if it is not necessary to strike them then the stronger opinion is that it is not recommended to do so but it is not prohibited. This is so that jihad does not become disabled because of a Muslim who is among the disbelievers. If it is necessary to strike them due to fear from harm that would befall the Muslims from them or because the fortress could not be opened in any other way, then there is no doubt that it is allowed to strike them. The second way in the madhab is that there is no consideration for necessity. If striking them would lead to the death of a Muslim they should not strike them otherwise there are two opinions. The third way, and this is mentioned by the author of al-Shâmil, is that if the number of Muslims among them is equal to the disbelievers we should not strike them but if they are less, then we can strike them because most of the harm would not be on the Muslims. The official position of the madhab, and this is what is stated in al-Mukhtasar, is that it is allowed to strike them even if it is known that it would inflict harm on the Muslims (among the disbelievers) because the sanctity of the Muslims on our side is greater than the sanctity of the Muslims who are among them. If some Muslims do get killed they are martyrs.”11 • Imam Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi: “If they (the enemy) shield themselves in war by women and children and others who should not be killed, it is allowed to target them with the intention of killing the combatants. This is because the Prophet ??? ???? ???? ???? used the mangonel even though there were women and children among 11 Rawdat al-?âlibîn. them. It is also because if the Muslims seize attacking them this would lead to the disablement of jihad since the enemy would use this shield to protect themselves whenever they feel threatened by the Muslims. It is allowed to strike against them whether the battle is raging or not because the Prophet ??? ???? ???? ???? did not wait to strike only at the times when the battle was underway.”12 • Imam Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi also says: “It was reported by Ali bin Abi Talib that the Prophet ??? ???? ???? ???? set up the mangonel against the people of al-Taif; and flooding the enemy with water is similar to that. If there are Muslims among them and we can conquer the enemy without using such methods, then we shouldn’t because it would lead to the shedding of blood without any necessity but if we cannot conquer them unless we use such methods then 12 Al-Sharh al-Kabîr. The continuation of jihad takes precedence over other considerations and that whatever would lead to the disablement of jihad should be abrogated. it is allowed because prohibiting that would lead to the disablement of jihad.”13 This is just a sample of quotations from our classical scholars to show that the continuation of jihad takes precedence over other considerations and that whatever would lead to the disablement of jihad should be abrogated. Many of the modern scholars have placed a set of rigid rules that if followed would make jihad impossible or at least put the Muslims in a position of disadvantage compared to an enemy who has no morals when it comes to its war against Islam. Some of the restrictions placed on jihad by some of the modern scholars include: • Jihad should not be fought without the permission of the king or president • Martyrdom operations are not allowed • Any operation that leads to the death of disbelieving women and children is not allowed. The first restriction by itself would lead to the complete abandonment of jihad because none of the kings or presidents (who are apostates to start with) would allow jihad for the sake of Allah. The only type of war they would allow is a war that benefits them personally and protects their power. They would care less about a war that is for the sake of Allah, the promotion of Islam or the defense of Muslims. The other two restrictions rule out most of the operation methods available for the mujahidin today. Imam Ibn Rushd says that it is the 13 Al-Kâfî. consensus of the jurists that fortresses could be struck with mangonels whether there are women and children in them or not. Imam al-Shafi’i says: “It has also been the practice of the Muslims and the righteous predecessors from the companions of Muhammad ??? ???? ???? ???? to be as such in regards to the fortresses of the disbelievers before us and it has not been reported to us that any one of them stopped targeting a fortress by mangonel or other forms of weaponry just because of the existence of women or children or others who should not be killed among them.” And Imam Ahmad said: “And is the fighting against the Romans but bayat?” It has been the practice of the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? in his battles to attack populations of the disbelievers even if women and children get unintentionally killed; it has been the practice of the four righteous Caliphs, the Umayyads, the Abbasids, the Ayyubids, the Muslims in Spain and the Mamluks in their wars to ambush the Romans in bayat and to use mangonels against them; and it has been the practice of the Ottomans to use artillery in their sieges against the disbelievers’ towns and cities. So can we throw away 1,400 years of war methods out of the window and come up today with new unfair rules for our jihad? What the Muslims didn’t do is kill them intentionally or kill them when they surrendered and fell into captivity. A sound understanding of this issue is very much needed today in order not to restrict our jihad or put our brothers at jeopardy by banning them from feasible targets just because it would lead to the deaths of non-combatants, and only allow them to attack military  targets that are more protected. Modes of operation that would be allowed according to the above evidence: • The use of explosives against populated areas in nations that are at war with Muslims is allowed. Explosive devices are similar to the effect a mangonel would have. Mangonel missiles were either stones which would fall and kill by impact or by shrapnel caused by them or containers that are filled with an incendiary material which would kill by burning. Some scholars have equated explosives to the use of fire against the enemy, which isn’t exactly accurate.14 It is true that explosives do produce high temperatures but most deaths are caused by shrapnel and by the detonation wave. The heat of the explosion causes the least number of casualties. This is the case with most explosive materials. But whether the death is caused by heat or by shrapnel, explosives are similar in legislation to the use of the mangonel. • The use of firearms in operations such as that of Mumbai, which is targeted at the general population, is allowed and is similar to the bayat method of war discussed above. The shooter can fire randomly at crowds but should avoid the execution of women or children when the target is clear. • The use of poisons or chemical and biological weapons against population centers is allowed and is strongly recommended 14 The scholars are using the (authentic) evidence that the Prophet ??? ???? ???? ???? banned the use of punishing the enemy with fire. due to its great effect on the enemy. Regarding the importance and permissibility of using such weapons, the classical scholars have said the following: – Imam al-Mawardi: “The Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? set up the catapult on al-Taif when he laid siege to it following the opening of Makkah. It is allowed to attack the enemy (in the place where they live such as their cities or villages) when they are not aware, like what the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? did with Bani al-Mustalaq, and it is allowed to attack them at night and set fire to their homes and throw on them fire, snakes or scorpions, demolish their homes with them inside, release floods onto them, cutoff their water supply, and do onto them all what would lead to their destruction without refraining just because of the women and children that are among them, even if that would lead to the deaths of their women and children. This is because the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? did not stop from attacking Bani al-Mustalaq or al-Taif because of their women and children. The instruction of the Messenger of Allah ??? ???? ???? ???? not to kill women and children is when they are intentionally executed; also when they fall as booty they should not be killed. However when they are residing in dâr al-harb, it is halâl to target them and they carry the same ruling as their men.”15 – Imam al-Sarkhasi (a Hanafi scholar) quotes Muhammad ibn al-Hassan from Sharh al-Sayr al-Kabîr: “It is allowed for the 15 Al-Hâwî al-Kabîr. Muslims to burn the fortresses of the disbelievers with fire, to flood them with water, or to put blood, feces or poison in their water until they contaminate it because Allah commanded us to subdue them and break their strength and all the methods of war which we mentioned that would lead to their weakening would be fulfilling the commands (of Allah) and would not fall under disobeying (of Allah). All of this also damages the enemy and that is a way to obtain rewards. Allah says: ?Nor do they inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness? [9: 120]. None of the mentioned (methods of war) are prohibited if there is among them Muslim prisoners of war, people who are given peace, young or old, men or women even if we know that, because there is no way to avoid them and at the same time fulfill the commands of subjugating the disbelievers and whatever is not possible to avoid is forgiven.” – Imam Ibn Farhoon (a Maliki scholar): “The enemy is fought in every way, and with fire if there is no other means if we fear harm from them. If we do not fear harm from them then there are two opinions. […] It is not disputable that we are allowed to strike their ships and fortresses with the mangonel even if Muslims are therein.”16 – Imam al-Kharshi (a Maliki scholar): “It is allowed to fight the enemy if they do not respond to what we call them to with all forms of war. It is al- 16 Tabsirât al-Hukâm. lowed to cut off water from them to kill them from thirst, to release floods on them, to drown them according to the famous opinion, or to kill them with weapons such as a blow from a sword, a stab from a lance, a missile from a mangonel or other weapons of war.”17 – Imam al-Shafi’i: “If the enemy protects himself in a mountain, a fortress, a trench, with thorn trees, or with any form of protection it is allowed to strike them with mangonels, catapults, fire, scorpions, snakes and all what harms them. It is allowed to flood them with water to drown them, or to get them hampered in mud. That is whether women, children and priests are among them or not because the land (of war) is not protected with Islam or with a covenant. It is also acceptable to burn their fruit trees or other trees, to destroy their buildings and all what doesn’t have a soul from their belongings.”18 – Imam al-Bahuti (a Hanbali scholar): “It is also allowed to strike them (the disbelievers) and put fire, snakes, or scorpions in the scales of the mangonel, to fill their tunnels with smoke, to release floods on them in order to drown them, and to destroy their fortresses and buildings. But if we can defeat them without the use of fire then we shouldn’t use it.”19 – Imam al-Shawkani: “Allah has commanded us to kill the disbelievers without specifying the methods of doing so. Allah did 17 Sharh Khalîl. 18 Al-Umm. 19 Kashf al-Qinâ. "All of this also damages the enemy and that is a way to obtain rewards. Allah says: ?Nor do they inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness? [9: 120]." - Imam al-Sarkhasi not command us to do this or not do that. Therefore there is no preventing from killing them with every means of killing whether it is shooting, stabbing, flooding, demolishing buildings on them or throwing them from heights.”20 These statements of the scholars show that it is allowed to use poison or other methods of mass killing against the disbelievers who are at war with us. In addition to that, there are many other important insights in their statements that the reader may benefit from. The populations of the nations that are at war with the Muslims and especially those who are at the lead such as the U.S., Britain and France should be targeted by the mujahidin in operations that employ explosives, poisons, firearms and all other methods that lead to inflicting the greatest harm on them and this is among the greatest deeds a Muslim can worship Allah with in our day and time.

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
