7 out of 10 girls in West Pokot are forced to undergo the painful act of Female Genital Multilation.

Story of Rose

Rose from West Pokot

Meet Rose, a young girl in West Pokot with big dreams of becoming the first female gynecologist from her county. However, cultural practices like FGM are threatening her potential to achieve her dreams.

Rose ran away from home when she learned that her parents were planning to take her through the painful cut. She now lives with a foster mother, Jane, a member of Komesi Women’s Network – a local women’s group advocating against FGM in West Pokot.

She might have escaped the cut but still lacks basics like food, sanitary wear, and education.

There are many more girls like Rose; young, innocent with ambitious dreams of brighter days, who are at risk of FGM. It is upon us to support them.

Spread some love this month and share a rose with Rose.

Support a girl at risk of FGM and the challenges that it brings to her life.
