Christian persecution and genocide is “worse now than any time in modern history” according to a recent report conducted by Aid to the Church in Need.

The report examined the plight of Christians in China, Egypt, Eritrea, India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and Turkey over the period lasting from 2015 until 2017. The research showed that during that span of time, Christians regularly suffered crimes against humanity. Some were even hanged or crucified.

Asia Bibi, a Pakistani-Christian, is but one example of the horrors that Christians all over the world face.

For 8 years, Asia Bibi sat on Pakistan’s death row for allegedly committing “blasphemy” against the religion of Islam. Bibi endured 8 years of torture, locked up in a death trap of a cell, suffering from severe maltreatment, all while enduring psychological and physical abuses. Asia Bibi was preparing for her death for a crime she did not commit.

Can you imagine as a mother of 5 being separated from your young children? That's the reality Asia Bibi dealt with for 8 years as her children were rarely permitted to visit.

Thankfully after those years of suffering, imprisonment, and immense public pressure, Bibi was acquitted by the Pakistani Supreme Court based on insufficient evidence.

However, Asia Bibi’s suffering and persecution -- as well as that of her family - has not stopped.

Sadly, Asia and her whole family are in hiding as hundreds of thousands of radical angry Muslims are out to kill her and her family.

Terrorists have even been spotted going door-to-door in search of Bibi and her family.

We often hear about Egypt’s Christians being attacked by Muslim mobs. What we rarely hear about is what happens afterwards.

Are the culprits imprisoned? Are the victims compensated? Do authorities take measures to help prevent such attacks from happening again?

While the acquainted reader may correctly assume no, the anatomy of what always takes place is of interest.

First, the attack itself is often based on the accusation that some Christian dared overstep his bounds, that is, he broke Islam’s supremacist dhimma contract.

Christians trying to build a church, romantically involved with Muslim girls, or insulting Muhammad—all banned according to Islam—are typical violations that prompt large, armed Muslim mobs to attack all the Christians in that village (and their church if one exists) as a form of collective punishment, which is also Islamic.

While the attack is in progress, the besieged Christians do the only thing they can: frantically call the local police and/or state security.

Based on private conversations with those involved, formal complaints from the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt, and objective media reporting, here’s what happens practically every single time:

Police and state security take their time to get to the scene, allowing the mob ample time to riot with impunity. It is not uncommon for authorities to arrive two or three hours after a mob attack commences—even when they are closely stationed.

For example, after 3,000 Muslims rose in violence against the Christians of a village near Alexandria in 2012, it took the army an hour to arrive—even though it was stationed a mere mile away: “This happens every time,” said a Christian eyewitness. “They wait outside the village until the Muslims have had enough violence, then they appear” (Crucified Again, p. 175).

After the uprising has fizzled out, authorities arrive. Instead of looking for and arresting the culprits or mob ringleaders—or, as often is the case, the local imam who incites the Muslim mob against the “uppity infidels” who need to be reminded of “their place”—authorities gather the leaders of the Christian and Muslim communities together in what are termed “reconciliation meetings.” During these meetings, Christians are asked to make further concessions to angry Muslims.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"><ins id="aswift_0_expand"><ins id="aswift_0_anchor"></ins></ins></ins>

Authorities tell Christian leaders things like, “Yes, we understand the situation and your innocence, but the only way to create calm in the village is for X [the offending Christian and extended family, all of whom may have been beat] to leave the village—just for now, until things calm down.” Or, “Yes, we understand you need a church, but as you can see, the situation is volatile right now, so, for the time being, maybe you can walk to the church in the next town six miles away—you know, until things die down.”

Needless to say, things never “die down” or “return to normal.” Christians who agree to banishment are seldom allowed reentry and churches rarely resume being built, for the mob will rise up again.

To be sure, when the authorities arrive to the scene of the crime, beaten and robbed Christians regularly reject the idea of being placed into a room with their persecutors in a mock reconciliation meeting that has proven time and again only to add insult to injury.

But when they rebuff the authorities’ offer and demand their rights as citizens against the culprits, the authorities smile and say “okay.” Then they go through the village making arrests—except that most of those whom they arrest are Christian youths. Then they tell the Christian leaders, “Well, we’ve made the arrests. But, just as you say so-and-so [Muslim] was involved, there are even more witnesses [Muslims] who insist your own [Christian] youths were the ones who began the violence. So, we can either arrest and prosecute them, or you can rethink our offer about having a reconciliation meeting.”

Under the circumstances, dejected Christians generally agree to the further mockery. What alternative do they have? They know if they don’t their youth will certainly go to prison and be tortured. In one recent incident, wounded Christians who dared fight against Muslim attackers were arrested and, despite serious injuries, held for seven hours and prevented from receiving medical attention.

This issue of reconciliation meetings is so prevalent and prevents Copts from receiving any justice that a 2009 book is entirely devoted to it. According to a review of the book, which is titled (in translation), Traditional Reconciliation Sessions and Copts: Where the Culprit Emerges Triumphant and the Victim is Crushed:

In some 100 pages the book reviews how the security apparatus in Egypt chooses to ‘reconcile’ the culprits and the victims in crimes where churches are burned; Coptic property and homes plundered, and Copts themselves assaulted, beaten and sometimes murdered; and when even monks are not spared. Even though it stands to reason that such cases should be seen in courts of law where the culprits would be handed fair sentences, this is almost never allowed to take place. And even in the few cases which managed to find their way into the courts, the culprits were never handed fair sentences since the police invariably fell short of providing any incriminating evidence against them.

The farcical scenario of reconciliation sessions has thus without fail dominated the scene where attacks against Copts are concerned, even though these sessions proved to be nothing but a severe retreat of civil rights.

Politically speaking, the authorities aim—through the reconciliation sessions—to secure a rosy façade of the ‘time-honoured[’] amicable relationships between Muslims and Copts’, implying that they live happily ever after. The heartbreaking outcome, however, is that the only winners in these sessions are the trouble mongers and fanatics who induce the attacks in the first place and who more often than not escape punishment and emerge victorious. The Coptic victims are left to lick their wounds.

Worse, not only are the victims denied any justice, but the aggressors are further emboldened to attack again. As Coptic Bishop Makarious of Minya recently put it in the context of discussing how Coptic Christians are now being attacked at the rate of every two or three days:

As long as the attackers are never punished, and the armed forces are portrayed as doing their duty, this will just encourage others to continue the attacks, since, even if they are arrested, they will be quickly released.

On Breitbart News Daily Friday morning, with Breitbart News executive chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon, reporter Katie McHugh warned that Christian charities may be bringing jihad to America by taking taxpayer dollars in exchange for importing U.N.-selected Muslim refugees into American neighborhoods.

“There’s a federal refugee program that hands out $1 billion per year to non-profit charities… Five of the top nine are Christian charities, one of which is Catholic Charities. And they get a $70 million per year refugee resettlement budget. Ninety-eight percent of that comes from the federal government,” McHugh said.

“Who decides who these refugees are? Well, the U.N. does,” she continued. “And as we’ve seen and Breitbart News has broken, along with Refugee Resettlement Watch headed by Ann Corcoran, that of the 100,000 refugees resettled in the United States in 2014, an estimated 40 percent of them are Muslims.”

“And the Catholic charities — they’re paid by the head for each of these refugees, many of whom are Muslim. They bring them in. They’re paid handsomely. And after four months, they’re not required to learn anything about these refugees: Where they go, where they live, what they’re up to. They’ve got their cash and they wipe their hands of it, and they go on to import more.”

Bannon asked if it was a cash-flow business plan or ideology that motivated Christian institutions to welcome the religion of the sword into the United States.

“I think right now the Catholic Church and Christianity at large is in the grips of an ideology of globalism. You just had yesterday on Maunday Thursday, Pope Francis wash and kiss the feet of Muslim refugees — who actually look quite uncomfortable in the video of it,” McHugh said. “They’re prostrating themselves before a religion that’s been at war with them and everything that’s not Islam for 1400 years.”

Pope Francis kissed Muslim so-called refugees’ feet only days after Muslim terrorists denoted suicide bombs in Brussels, killing 34 and wounded hundreds more, along with Catholic, Hindu and Orthodox individuals.

Sister Hatune Dogan is a Syrian Orthodox nun. She was born in Turkey, but her family fled to Germany to escape persecution. She now works in the field to help persecuted Christians all over the world, especially in the Middle East.

Sister Hatune was one of the featured speakers at the “Solidarity for Persecuted Christians” events in Orlando last month. On May 17, 2014 she was interviewed byElisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff.

Many thanks to Henrik Ræder Clausen and Alan Kornman of The United West for the recording, to Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff for the transcript, to Henrik Ræder Clausen for the timing, and to Vlad Tepes for the editing and subtitling:

NOTE: Sister Hatune’s English is not as good as her German, so we made the effort to transcribe the speech, normalize the English syntax, and then subtitle it. This also make it easy to provide SRT files for people who want to translate it for their own subtitles in other languages. When making small changes — verb tenses, plurals, grammar, prepositions, and so on — I didn’t indicate my revisions in the transcript. However, when the difference was significant I put the alternate word or phrase in square brackets, so that viewers can see where I made the change.

Sister Hatune, welcome to Orlando. Thanks for being here. I would like you to tell the audience little bit about yourself, about your early life. I understand you were born in southeast Turkey and your native language is Aramaic. Can you please tell us more about this?

Yes, I was born in 1970 in Zaz, a village in southeast Turkey. I grew up as a Syrian-Orthodox Christian, I am a Syrian-Orthodox-Christian.

With me, we are ten children, and my mother tongue, for this location in Tur Abdin, Mount Hermite, there is still — thank God — the Aramaic language as a mother tongue, reading and writing. Even the Turkish government forced us to speak and to use only Turkish, but they could not change the culture in the village. Only in school it was totally forbidden.

I tell you the truth, I am proud that we still have this language, because there is no other area in which Aramaic is the mother tongue. They say somewhere in Syria there are villages [with Aramaic], but this is not really Aramaic.

Yes, it is the oldest language in history, and if someone knows Aramaic, the phonetic of this language covers all other pronunciation. If someone [knows Aramaic], it is easy to also use other languages.

100%, yes. But for this language we were persecuted.

Under Turkish law, I went for five years in my village to a Turkish school, and the teacher was automatically Muslim because the Christians in Turkey, until today, they cannot be employed by the government, any jobs. That is why automatically — our teacher in our plain Christian village all students were Christians, but the teacher was Muslim.

He forced us every Friday to attend Islamic religion classes but we [refused]. Every Friday we got hit on our hands with a [ruler], eight times. Four times on the right hand, four times on the left hand. Every Friday! Because we denied together these Islamic religion classes.

During the Armenian genocide, we know that 1.5 million Armenian Christians were murdered by the Turks. But were there also other groups such as the Syrian-Orthodox that were targeted?

A:

I would like to say, you know that the Syrian-Orthodox church is based on the Chair of Peter in Antioch until today. The church of Antioch, the apostle […] says in 1125, it was the first time they called them Christians. Christianity spread from there to all over the world and this church at the beginning of the 8th century, they counted the number of Christians of this church, my church. Seventy-two million people.

Out of these seventy-two million, now there are only half a million.

Where are these Christians?

Q:

That’s a good question. Where are they?

A:

Yes. And these Christians were later split [into] Armenian, Greek Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant and Armenian. I told you about that. These four groups were living in Turkey and the surrounding areas.

The main genocide was 1000 until 1200. Under the caliphate, also this time, they had Koran. How to kill and it is legal to kill and cut and these things. I will not speak about the Koran now. But that is the period, under this fanaticism that the Christians had no rights to have a house that is 10 cm higher than the [house of a] Muslim. It has to come down. A Christian has no right to ride on a horse. Christians have no right to have a [steeple] on a church. They were completely [pulled] down under the caliphate.

Q:

These are the dhimmi laws.

Dhimmis — I will speak later about the dhimmi. Dhimmi is — I am talking about what has happened.

Q:

Yes. But those were the laws back then.

A:

Yes. Dhimmis — The caliphate put these laws.

Since that time, since the 10th century, these laws, not before, they were established, fixed. And so Christians in that time, they had to carry a wooden cross, a big cross, in the fields, for 200 years, and they [said], “We are overloaded from this cross, so we will say only [with] our mouths we will be Muslim, then they will take this cross from our back.” They [said] that, but in the second generation, in the big cities, they then so easily became Muslims.

But our area, Tur Abdin, where I am from in southeast Turkey, is 120 km long and 80 km wide, there are 243 villages, and these are plain Christian, were plain Christian until 1915 or 1914. And in this area, that was 1915, the genocide you talk about as Armenian, Armenians were killed, 1.5 million. And they call it until today the Armenian genocide. But, no! Syrian-Orthodox, they killed more than Armenians, because this location is a Syrian-Orthodox area.

A:

I tell you, three million. Not 1.5, three million they killed. I have facts here. This book in the German language and I have only twelve villages, Syrian-Orthodox villages here. Some of the villages before the genocide, there were seven hundred families. In the Orient, a family [consists of] seven members normally. Minimum.

No one. I have here just twelve total, here; I count them in total. There are 52,000 only from twelve villages they killed in total. 52,000 just from 12 villages. That is [found in the] resources in this book. I will return later to this book.

I have here this book, and it [tells about how the blood of Christians killed was shared] in 1914/15. And in [just] one colony, out of 40,000 members no one came back. The eyewitness, he was fifteen years old. Only viewed by one person.

Today Erdogan and the Turkish government say it is not allowed to speak of genocide. He warns our patriarch: “If you don’t shut the mouth of your children in Europe and other areas [not] to speak about genocide, I will do according to my will and wish,” he warned them. It is horrible.

Entering paradise… the Muslims there [were thinking] when I was a small child and also today by Iraqi and Syrian refugees and hearing daily and seeing daily. And my grandma also in her time in 1915 [heard]… they believe if they kill one unbeliever — who could be Buddhist, Hindu, Jew, Christian, anyone not Sunni Muslims — they will go directly to heaven. That is [what] they believe and they are doing that also.

An example: I met — in March 2014 I met Mahmoud at the Syrian border. This young man, he [would] like to do something. He registered his name at the university to study, but he doesn’t have a job; he is on the waiting list. He asked his father, “What shall I do, father?” “Yeah, go to the mosque, maybe they will give you something.” He goes to the mosque, and the mosque, they look, he is a young man, he’s healthy — they sent him to the jihad camps.

In jihad camp they [brainwash people] and told him that if you kill one unbeliever — a normal Muslim has forty virgin girls if he dies, he will have sex with them [and so on]. But if he kills one unbeliever, he will get a gift of 72 [girls]! And this young man, he liked — one day eleven [virgins], another — to live this leisure of a sex life with these virgin girls. 72!

And he [went and was wounded] and they treat him in Gaziantep […], and that will be paid for by the Turkish government, completely. And what he wrote, he told me there are three [jihad camps]: in Urfa, Antakya, and in Gaziantep, the three big, largest jihadist [camps]. They come from abroad, they teach them there how to treat them, how to kill, what to do, and then they send them to Syria. And more than that also, he went there, he tried to kill and kill, but he didn’t personally… He told me, “I didn’t kill anybody. But they killed my friends next to me, and I saw they — he exploded himself.” And he was looking at — his body had become [torn to] pieces. And he was —

It’s not funny, sorry for that, but sometimes I have to laugh about this.

He was looking next to him [and saw] that even his penis was [torn to] pieces, and he was thinking, “Oh my God, how could this penis have sex again? It is not possible!” And so he came to himself; he ran away to Turkey. This is a Kurdish-Muslim young boy.

And he told [me], “Sister, I am still a Muslim. I don’t want to say I belong to another faith because I don’t know another faith, but I don’t believe anything in Islam; it is only lies from bottom to top. And they blow our heads so much that we believed [all this] 100%. But now I came to know that everything is a lie. If I tell you what I hear — lying, now that I know is lying — three months, [it] would not be finished, day and night, if I [were to] tell you.

See, these people, they believe in sexual life after death. And the gents, they are thirsty to go soon to do something, to kill the unbeliever, to go to this area [paradise]. It’s — I understand them from one side.

See, I myself, I am a refugee. I fled from southeast Turkey under the hard persecution. I am a Christian. I know the language of […] Christians, I know the mind of the people in that location, in the Middle East, totally.

And I was thinking how I heard that there is again ethnic cleansing of other Christians. I could not stay in Germany, sit on the couch and wait for some information. I thought I had to go there personally because I know [what it is like there]. I went there and I feel it is my duty.

Even — I am guiding a foundation, in 35 countries, over 5,000 volunteers workers with me. Our mission is according to Matthew 25:40: [When you are] serving the needy, you are serving me. But, [in] 2005, I heard about the disaster there. I [said], “OK, my main work is the persecution of the Christians in the Middle East. That is why I am there also. And I went there personally. I met so many people.

But how I heard the story of the girls… I spoke personally with 218 girls, [the ones that were kidnapped,] the youngest one was 5 1/2 years [old]. They misused her. In Turkey, in Syria, in Iraq, in Jordan, in Lebanon, in Egypt. These are the locations [where] we were working. I myself, I am not working by myself. I have local people there. I control, guide and help and motivate.

But my own work is with the girls, because I am a psychotherapist, I am a spiritual counselor, and I was myself persecuted, I know [what it is like]. I myself, I was [almost] raped until I was 14 years old, in Turkey, by Muslims. Four times [they tried]. It did not happen, thank God. Still I am a virgin. But it was at the last minute God saved me. I cannot explain everything but these 218 girls under [their breath] they told me that what had happened to them: they [the perpetrators] raped them, they cut some portions of them — a sample — from this number that I spoke [to], 13 of them, they cut half of the vagina. I saw it with my own eyes. How many there are that I didn’t see, I don’t know. Three, they cut their breast, only because they [the abductors] were not happy with the ransom. All of them, they had to pay ransom to come to be freed. [If] they were not happy with that, some of them, they cut their faces.

I have photos, I have much […], I have video, I have everything there [to prove this]. I have all these girls, the youngest one I had to cry on her shoulder. Others cried on my shoulder. And I have feelings for these girls. These traumatic views, they’ll never go from my brain, from my mind. I am psychologically normally [strong], but through the power of my Lord, through my psychological knowledge, through my Bible I can pass over these heavy things till today.

According to Sham Times and other Arabic websites, jihadi social media networks posted the above picture of a child sitting on the ground while surrounded by armed men pointing their rifles at him. The caption appearing with the picture, purportedly posted by a supporter of the Free Syrian Army, is “Our youngest hostage from among the hostile sects of Kessab.”

Kessab is a predominantly Christian Armenian village in Syria near the Turkish border. Earlier it was invaded by jihadis, who terrorized, pillaged churches, and prompted some 2000 residents to flee. Initial reports had stated that about a dozen families remained as hostages.

Since the picture appeared on Arabic social media, many have expressed shock and outrage, condemning the Syrian “rebels,” while others cast doubt on the authenticity of the picture.

Of course, those wondering what the jihadis have to gain from taking such a picture and making it public would do well to remember that these are the same “rebels” who decapitate people and wave their severed and bloodied heads in front of cameras while smiling; these are the same “freedom fighters” who literally eat their victims on camera.

Surely “teasing” an infidel toddler – a subhuman – with their rifles and sharing it with their sadistic comrades via the Internet for a “laugh” should not be too surprising?

At any rate, the fact remains: the “Free Syrian Army,” along with other “rebel” groups operating in Syria, are guilty of countless barbaric crimes against humanity — including against women and children.

UPDATE: Commenter LeviDocker at PJ Tatler posts a very apt excerpt from Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s classic work, The Brothers Karamazov, which follows:

These Turks took a pleasure in torturing children, too; cutting the unborn child from the mother’s womb, and tossing babies up in the air and catching them on the points of their bayonets before their mothers’ eyes. Doing it before the mothers’ eyes was what gave zest to the amusement. Here is another scene that I thought very interesting. Imagine a trembling mother with her baby in her arms, a circle of invading Turks around her. They’ve planned a diversion: they pet the baby, laugh to make it laugh. They succeed, the baby laughs. At that moment a Turk points a pistol four inches from the baby’s face. The baby laughs with glee, holds out its little hands to the pistol, and he pulls the trigger in the baby’s face and blows out its brains. Artistic, wasn’t it? By the way, Turks are particularly fond of sweet things, they say.

The fact, like it or not, is that under the rule of the Jews in Israel, the Christian and Muslim communities live in complete security and have absolute freedom of worship. Churches are not burned. Mosques are not burned.

In some places, such as Myanmar, Muslims are indeed being grievously victimized (by Buddhists), and these abuses should not be tolerated.

The joyous Christmas mass celebrated in Bethlehem did nothing to dispel the tragedy of the Christian community in the Middle East, which, in the shadow of the "Arab Winter", is fighting a desperate battle for personal and economic security, a life of dignity and freedom of worship.

Facing increasing Muslim persecution, the Christians in the Middle East are emigrating as fast as they can, reminiscent of the mid-20th century exodus of the Jews from the Arab countries, when they fled persecution, murder, rape and the theft of their property at the hands of gangs of militant Muslims.

Qatar's official TV station, Al Jazeera, which encourages Islamist terrorist attacks against Israel, against the Syrian regime and against the Egyptian government, this year decided that holiday cheer required false accusations against Israel for persecuting the Christians in Jerusalem, Nazareth and Bethlehem. Despite the general confusion, chaos and mournful atmosphere of Christmas this year in the "Arab Spring" countries, Qatar TV's plan did not succeed. The reason it did not is that, as Arabs, we can see that Israel is the only place on earth that allows the three main monotheistic faiths complete and unfettered freedom of worship.

Recently, the Muslim Public Affairs Committee UK, a British Muslim lobby, announced that "Islamophobia Awareness Month" would be held to combat the growing hatred for Muslim communities in the West. The leaders of the Islamic community in London turned to the media to report that the increasing hatred of Muslims in Europe is unjustified, simply the fruit of a conspiracy backed by "Zionist interests." The campaign includes posters and displays representing Islam as moderate, pluralistic and overflowing with the milk of human kindness, and its leaders as the standard bearers of global inter-religious and interracial coexistence.

In some places, such as Myanmar, Muslims are indeed being grievously victimized (by Buddhists), and these abuses should not be tolerated. And, while most Muslims undoubtedly just wish to be left to live in peace, there seems to be a widening supply, globally, of those who do not. The West has every reason to be afraid: Islamophobia is not a phobia -- an irrational fear -- at all.

Many of the most ardent Islamophobes, are, it would appear, Muslims themselves -- those who would like to speak or write freely, without fear; or not be tortured or hanged for sexual preferences among adults that harm no one else; or like to have a say in when and whom they marry; or leave home without permission of a male guardian, or even drive a car; or who do not wish to be beaten by one's husband, or accused of adultery when raped or submit to female genital mutilation; the list could go on.

The West should be afraid: the leaders of radical Islam seem to be intent on expanding their ideology throughout Europe and beyond, cynically exploiting the freedoms of Western democracy to incite the Islamic communities in Europe against Western values, and constructing and enabling terrorist cells. After two World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and 2001; the London tube bombing in 2005; the Madrid railway station bombing; Chechen attacks in Russia, including the Beslan school and two recent Islamic suicide bombings in Russia; attacks on synagogues in Argentina and Venezuela; the recent massacres of Egypt's Christian Copts, who predated the Muslims there by centuries -- not to mention repeated attacks on the U.S. from 1973 in Lebanon onwards, and including the attack on the Khobar Towers, Kenya and Tanzania, the U.S.S. It would seem there is a lot to be "phobic" about.

If it were only a problem of rhetoric, of boasts and militant Islamic emotionalism, the West could sleep in peace, but it is a problem of the active involvement of high-ranking Islamic community leaders inciting their followers against their Western hosts, with personal involvement in organizing and leading terrorist activities and training jihad fighters for future attacks on institutions and individuals in the West. It was not a matter of chance that the American Edward Snowden leaked the information that the West monitored the Islamic enclaves in European cities and was consequently preparing for the worst possible scenario.

Without a doubt Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafist-jihadi organizations have done untold damage to the West, as well as to Muslims like me, who do not want bloodshed and Islamic terrorism, and do not identify with their objectives. Under such circumstances, it is hard to improve the image of the Islamic community, where so many of its members are a party to anti-Western incitement and terrorism.

Spokesmen for the Islamic community are apparently unwilling to grapple with the situation. They do not take responsibility for their own actions and blame everyone except themselves, and especially the Jews. They claim that hatred of Islam began when Salman Rushdie published The Satanic Verses. They minimize or deny the importance, and even the existence, of the mass-casualty Islamic terrorist attacks planned and carried out from within the main Islamic communities in the cities of Europe, such as the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. and the many terrorist attacks carried out against civilian populations around the world since that time.

At the beginning of November 2013, representatives of Christians in the Middle East met in Beirut to discuss the persecution and murder of Christians by gangs of radical Islamic militant thugs in the so-called "Arab Spring" countries. Their final statements were empty, pathetic and fairly hopeless. They agreed that Christians were persecuted and murdered; their women raped; their property stolen and their churches burned by Muslim Brotherhood operatives. And they agreed that arsonists repeatedly burned the Coptic Virgin Mary Church in Egypt and the authorities repeatedly did nothing to keep it from happening.

But while the interim government in Egypt did outlaw the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization -- accusing its operatives of repeated acts of arson against Coptic churches and sites in Egypt, and premeditated attacks on the Coptic community -- the trend towards eradicating the Christian presence in the region continues unabated, and thus the unprecedented, massive emigration of Christians from the Middle East comes as no surprise. Similar Islamist attacks are being carried out against Christians not only in Egypt, but also in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Nigeria, the Sudan, and more subtly in Iran, where an American, Pastor Saeed Abedini, remains housed in a "violent offenders" prison.

The ethnic cleansing of the Christians in the Middle East perpetrated by the Muslim Brotherhood is rooted in the Islamist concept that Christianity and Judaism, despite both being monotheistic, became irrelevant after Muhammad (saas). Therefore, their existence is temporary, inferior to Islam, and Christians and Jews aredhimmis, or a "tolerated" lower caste who must pay a head tax to Muslims for "protection" [from marauding Muslims], and who will eventually have to convert to Islam.

A similar process is ongoing in the city of Bethlehem in Palestine. A holy city, it had a Christian majority until, in the wake of the Oslo Accords, Israel withdrew, turning it over to the Palestinian Authority. Until then, the city had been 95% Christian, but most Christians were forced to leave their homes and find other places to reside, and Muslims from the surrounding villages took up residence. Currently the population of Bethlehem is 65% Muslim. It is not difficult to imagine what would happen to Christians and Jews if Israel also turned Jerusalem over to the Palestinian Authority.

During the Christmas mass in Bethlehem, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas claimed that Jesus was a Palestinian. It was a pathetic attempt, this time made by the Palestinians, to distort history and the principles of both the Islamic and Christian faiths for the sake of political Palestinian advancement. Senior sheikhs in the Arab-Muslim world and Palestinian religious leaders in Al-Aqsa mosque all obstinately and fervently claim that there never was a Jewish Temple in Jerusalem; that it is all a Zionist lie. The claim is not only false; its objective is to dispossess the Jews and rob them of their historical "blessed land," even though it was promised to them by the Holy Qur'an.[1]

If and when the claim that there was no Jewish Temple in Jerusalem becomes acceptable, the Christian narrative of Jesus, who threw the money-lenders out of the Temple, also logically becomes a fairy tale with no basis in fact – all for the sake of justifying Palestinian fantasies and to negate the right of the Jews to their historically capital city.

Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, the leader of the Islamic Movement -- the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Israel -- is also a cog in the defraud-and-deceive machine. Interviewed by Al-Jazeera last month, he claimed that Islam defends the Christians and Muslims in Jerusalem -- and this is from the mouth of the Islamic cleric who for years, in collaboration with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, has spearheaded the effort to oust the Christians from their religious seats in Jerusalem. The Islamic Movement also tried to construct a mosque at the entrance to the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, an attempt which was foiled by the Jews.

The fact, like it or not, is that under the rule of the Jews in Israel, the Christian and Muslim communities live in complete security and have absolute freedom of worship. Churches are not burned. Mosques are not burned. Neither Christians nor Muslims are attacked when they leave their houses of prayer. The Pope's upcoming visit to Bethlehem is apparently meant to show the Christians in the Middle East that they have not been abandoned by the Holy See -- but as an act of reassurance, it is "too little too late." The Christians in the Western world are organizing to defend themselves, and taking security steps which radical Islamists call "Islamophobia."

The increasing speed with which the Christians of the Middle East are fleeing would suggest that the battle for a regional Christian presence has already been lost. Those standing in the breach are a handful of Christians in Israel who remain an obstacle to the rising tide of political Islam threatening Europe, Africa and the United States. At the rate Christians are leaving the Arab countries, it is entirely possible that the next time the Pope celebrates mass in Bethlehem, he will be the last Christian in the Middle East.

In Sura 7 al-A'raf verse 137 (in some editions, verse 138) the blessed land is inherited to be inherited by the sons of Israel: "And We bequeathed upon the people that were abased [despised] all the east and the west of the land We had blessed. And the fair word of they Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel, because of their endurance…"
