Relations with Non-Muslims

The Sources

Qur'an 3.28

Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.

Qur'an 004.144

O ye who believe! Take not for friends unbelievers rather than believers: Do ye wish to offer Allah an open proof against yourselves?

Qur'an 002.193

And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors.

Qur'an 005.057

O you who believe! Do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book [Jews and Christians] before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers.

Qur'an 005.060

Say: "Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from Allah? those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil;- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!"

Qur'an 005.033

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement,

Qur'an 009.029

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Bukhari (009.084.057); also Bukhari (004.052.260)

Narrated 'Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).' I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"

Bukhari (001.002.024)

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform a that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah."

Sira 516;

After the ‘battle’ of Khaibar the nearby people of Faduk also wanted to sue for ‘peace.’ Mohammed agreed to permit them to continue farming their land provided they hand over half of the produce to the Muslims – with the important condition: ‘If we wish to expel you we will expel you.’ Mohammed said the same to the people of Khaibar. Bukhari (039.039.531)

Bukhari (004.052.177)

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say, "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

Qur'an 027.033

Yusufali:… And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them…But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them),

The Theology

Who are non-Muslims? Islam means ‘submission.’ ‘In the religious sense, Islam means submission to the will of God and obedience to His law.’ A Muslim is one who submits. A non-Muslim is someone who refuses to submit and believe that ‘Allah is one and Muhammad is his messenger.’ (Source) The quotes above and elaborations below list some of the practical consequences of this refusal.

‘People of the Book’ are Jews and Christians. ‘To make mischief in the land’ is a wonderfully vague phrase. For many Muslims simply refusing to submit (i.e. becoming a Muslim) is making ‘mischief in the land’ and may justify the proscribed punishment mentioned above.

For those who leave Islam the proscribed punishment by Mohammed is death.

Jews are particularly targeted for Islamic venom. They are compared with ‘apes and swine.’ And it seems that nature herself hates them and will express such hatred by the fact that ‘in the last hour’ the very stones will say to Muslims, ‘There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."

The choice presented to non-Muslims who are ‘People of the Book’ according to the Qur'an and Hadith is conversion, payment of the Jizya (poll tax) or war. As the Qur'an says the payment of the Jizya requires an attitude of submission (‘until they pay the Jizya with willing submission’); the payers must be made to ‘feel subdued.’ This makes them semi- or mini-Muslims; people who only partially submit. This ensures the superiority of Islam over all other beliefs.

Sharia law is the detailed application of the commands of the Qur'an and the examples of Mohammed. The right for non-Muslims to live in Muslim dominated lands is a prerogative of the Muslim majority; it is not a right in the same sense that Muslim have a right to live there. This attitude is consistent with the example of Mohammed who said, ‘If we wish to expel you we will expel you.’

For non-Muslims, who are not people of the book, e.g. atheists, polytheists, etc. the choice is conversion or war. This is why according to many historians the Muslim conquests of India were even more horrific than that of the lands where People of the Book lived. ‘The massacres perpetrated by Muslims in the India are unparalleled in history, bigger in sheer numbers than the [Nazi] Holocaust, or the massacre of the Armenians by the Turks; more extensive even than the slaughter of the South American native populations by the invading Spanish and Portuguese.’

Slavery in the Qur'an is mentioned in many places with different meanings, using words like ‘those whom your right hand possess’ (e.g. Qur'an 016.071)

‘All Muslim scholars acknowledge that Islam has retained the principle of slavery, though some of them claim that Islam encourages the liberation of slaves. Maybe some of Muhammad's sayings and a few Qur'anic verses indicate so, yet from a practical point of view, we realize that the liberation of slaves was a rare occurrence. The reason is well known… Neither Muhammad nor his wives or companions were a good example in this regard. Mohammad himself owned many slaves, some of whom he captured in wars of conquest and some he purchased. The names of forty slaves owned by Mohammad are recorded by Muslim chroniclers.’ ‘In his campaign against the children of Qurayza (the Jewish tribe), Muhammad killed all the males (700-900) in one day. Then, he divided the women and the children among his people.’ (S)

Qur'an 3.28 clearly warns against taking non-Muslims as friends/allies/protectors etc. Those Muslims who do will incur the wrath of Allah. ‘An infidel i.e. a person, who does not believe in Allah and His Oneness, is najis, i.e. unclean.’ (al-Sistani)

"Islamic law, which is conserved in the codes of family law of the various Muslim countries, does not consent to and therefore does not recognize this marriage [of a Muslim woman who marries a Catholic man], but exacts the conversion of the future husband to Islam." (S) (Q)

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
