It takes a nation to protect the nation
There are way too many examples of breakdown of law to post, so I'm just creating this forum as a general purpose holder for examples which highlight this trend.
My theory is that the success of Crime dramas on the telly is due to the fact that people need to see that crime does not pay. To see it on the telly is some sort of compensation that not enough criminals are caught and brought to justice in real life. Society would be structured differently if the lovers of Crime dramas would demand that virtual reality becomes real reality.
Hmm, I like that theory. Crime dramas are satisfying, but we all know deep down that the bad guys get away with it 95% of the time, or are just punished lightly with respect to the severity of the crime they did. It's a kind of displacement reaction to satisfy a hidden need for true justice.
