"HELL NO!'  would be a good vote if enough people would do it.  I very likely will. I will not vote for Romney.

I hate politics and politicians. Writing about them is a form of self defense.

OK, I see what you mean now.  Thanks Danny :-)

Both tactics are used here as well. Many democrats, confident of Obama's victory but still wanting to hedge on their bet, registered Republican and voted for Romney in the primaries. The goal was to eliminate all conservative from the running and even if Romney does beat Obama, they will still have their kind of man in office.

Many Republicans even knowing the truth about Romney will vote for him as a protest vote. Others would rather cut to the chase and get on with what must be done. Democrats and Progressives alike must be ousted, by whatever means are necessary.

Hi Danny,
well I'm still going to visit you someday :-)

We've got 2 expressions over here, the Tactical Vote, and the Protest Vote.

A Tactical Vote is where you vote for someone you think is 2nd best but with good chances, so that you can keep some bad guy out.  We saw that in the recent London Mayoral elections, where a lot of Labourites voted for the Conservative candidate, because they hated Ken Livingstone personally.  Also, perhaps some far right voters voted for the Conservative candidate to ensure that Livingstone didn't get in.

A Protest Vote is where you vote for a party you don't want to get in, but its a good way of sending a message to the rulers "watch out, we are upset about this".  So, if you think none of the parties take environmental issues seriously enough, you vote for the Greens, even though you don't really want them to get in.  Or if you think that immigration isn't taken seriously enough, you could make a protest vote for the BNP even though you don't really want them to get in.

So, don't the options of a Tactical Vote or a Protest Vote make any sense to you in the US system?

Homeland - fear and self-loathing in America ;

Alan, I just love debating with you. Usually we wind up agreeing with each others and if I correctly recall, you once said that our differences are usually in the details.

You have long known that I am an idealist, Don Quixote, Cyrano and such... As for a protest vote let me offer this thought. I hate the way we have "Landslide victories" for a candidate. I wish the final results read something like this, given one hundred million registered voters: Candidate A received 29,000,000 votes, Candidate B received 21,000,000 votes, Those who trusted neither candidate 50,000,000. That would eliminate the so called "Mandate" and make even the winner tread easy.

I don't believe that I can say it better than I already have in my essay when I wrote:

"I have long stated that Obama must be removed from power and tried for his crimes against America and my choosing to also oppose the man who hopes to replace him opens up a whole new can of worms. Wherein doth my loyalties lie? Certainly with neither of those men.

Those loyalties lie within the framework of our Constitution. They lie with the Founders who pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, knowing that failure meant they would all face the gallows. My loyalties lie with the liberties won for us by men who had the courage to shed life's blood that we may stand proudly before all the world and proclaim ourselves to be free. Yet if the truth be known, today we can no longer make that claim, and only future events will prove or disprove the statement that we live in the home of the brave.

It would be only fitting that I mention one other loyalty, that being to my own personal values. I never want to look in the mirror and see the image of a man who voted for the lesser of two great evils. Though I may very well fall before that evil, I would far rather confront it face to face than to cringe before it and bow to it in passing."

OK, fair enough, but why not still vote for Romney?  At the very least, its a protest vote against Obama isn't it?

Comment by Danny Jeffrey on May 11, 2012 at 2:06

Alan,I know many who won't vote for him. Most Americans have already concluded that Obama has the election wired, and many who now plan to vote for Romney will back out due to a fear factor. I am convinced that between now and election day, if indeed there is one, all hell is going to break loose here. It has already begun as our apartheid government refuses to enforce laws broken by black mobs as they attack white people. The blacks constitute eleven percent of our population and yet black on white violence outnumber white on black violence by a factor of nine to one...and it will grow far worse in the near future.

That link contains page after page of assaults on white people, most of which go unpunished.

While writing "Romney vs Obama...Decline of America" I was thinking a great deal about Churchill. He spoke of the dangers to come and most chose not to listen. We face a far worse danger now and if we are not up to the task then all is lost, and that task is to retake and rebuild America. If Obama wins we surely face a civil war within America. I would far rather see that than to have Romney win and America to think we have won and then the slow grind of Progressivism begins anew.

Obama has done so much damage in so little time, but he has not done nearly as much damage as the Progressives did over an extended time frame. Romney, if elected, would simply slow the process back to the scale intended by the Fabian Society, but the process would still continue unabated.

We face now and we stop it now, or Hayak will be proven right about the road to serfdom.

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
