It takes a nation to protect the nation
British newspapers recently featured the case of a Premier League footballer, Nicolas Anelka (his Muslim name is Abdul-Salam Bilal), who gave a “reverse Nazi salute” after scoring a goal a week or so ago. The quenelle, as the salute is called, was invented by the French comedian Dieudonne M'bala M'bala (Anelka's friend). It's claimed by some of its defenders – though not all – to be neither a sign for Jew-hatred nor one of support for National Socialism (Nazism). Instead they say it's an “anti-Zionist salute”. Others say it's an “anti-establishment gesture”.
The thing is, even if the salute is an “anti-establishment gesture”, that is primarily so because that very same (French) “establishment” has prosecuted Dieudonne no less than eight times for his remarks about Jews. So this is equivalent, surely, to a paedophile claiming to be “anti-establishment” because he doesn't like the fact that he has been arrested for his pedophile activities.
Dieudonne started out as Leftist “anti-Zionist”; not as a right-wing Jew-hater. He's now classed, at least by some, as a right-wing anti-Zionist as well as a Jew-hater. All this simply begs the following question:
Are there any real or genuine differences - at least in the Dieudonne's case - between anti-Zionism and anti-Jewism?
Yes, yes! I'm perfectly aware that the terms “anti-Zionism” and “anti-Semitism” are not synonymous (semantically speaking); it's just that I could easily argue that, say, 95% or more of all anti-Zionists are also Jew-haters. That's the brutally simple political – not semantic - point that many defenders of “anti-Zionists” like Dieudonne fail to register. (Or they pretend not to register.)
Anyway, Dieudonne also started out as a Leftist “anti-racist” who was also against, in his own words, the "Zionist-American axis of power". Today he's still against the "Zionist-American axis of power", though, some now argue, as a Nazi, not as a Leftist. (Jean-Marie Le Pen is the godfather of his child.)
It could be argued that Dieudonne got at least some of his anti-Zionist views from such Leftist (as well as Jewish) notables as Noam Chomsky and Norman Finkelstein; specifically his view that all holocaust commemorations are "memorial pornography".
Now let's take the case of Dieudonne's fellow anti-Zionist, Professor Shlomo Sand.
Shlomo Sand is a Israeli Marxist who also believes that the Jews, as a people, are a “invention”. Sand began his political life in the 1960s/70s as a member of the fanatical Maoist group, Matzpen (as did fellow anti-Zionist Leftist, Sylvain Cypel, who then went on the establish the Workers' League). Some members of Matzpen then went on to train communist terrorists in Syria at a time when Leftist terrorism was almost in first place to Islamic terrorism. (This, at least in part, explains the Leftist/Islamist love affair.)
Today Professor Shlomo Sand believes that, to use Ayatollah Khamenei's words (of 2000), “Israel must be uprooted from the region”.
So let's put all this in some kind of context.
Leftist, or more specifically Marxist, Jew-Hatred dates back to 1844 when Marx first promulgated his hatred of the Jews in print. Marx, like Noam Chomsky, Norman Finkelstein and Shlomo Sand later, was only Jewish by blood; not by religion or by culture. In fact not even Marx's father was a Jew by religion. Thus Jew-hatred came easy to Marx.
Nazi Jew-Hatred, on the other hand, only dates back to 1920 (some 70 years later) when the Nazi Party was formed. (This is not to say, of course, that German Jew-hatred didn't predate the Nazis: it did, in Marxism and in much else.)
Leftist/Marxist Jew-hatred continued with the Bolsheviks (which is ironic because Nazis made - and still make - much of the few Bolsheviks who were Jews); to Stalin; then onwards to the “ultra-Leftist” Holocaust-denying tradition of the 1960s/70s (e.g., Pierre Guillaume); and then all the way to today's Leftist boycott-Israel movement.
As for the last link in that chain: what would you expect from contemporary Leftists? After all, Israel is both Jewish and a capitalist democracy! (Incidentally, Dave Duke thinks that Israel is a “Stalinist” state. Many Leftists think Israel is “Nazi” state.)
In terms of detail, what usually happens is that International Socialists (Leftists) pick out the "neo-cons", “neo-Liberals”, “Zionists”, “capitalists”, etc. who are Jewish for extra-special attention/obsession; as well as, of course, Israel itself.
National Socialists (Nazis) pick out Marxist and also - strangely enough - “capitalist” Jews for extra-special attention/obsession; as well as, of course, Israel itself.
In other words, many Leftists think that all Jews are right-wing neo-cons, capitalists and Zionists. There are exceptions of course. The Jewish exceptions are those honourable Leftists who have cleansed themselves of all their Jewishness: save their blood (e.g., Marx, Chomsky, Shlomo Sand, Norman Finkelstein, etc.)
When a white non-Jewish person is a Marxist, or a “neo-con”, the Nazis and Inter-Nazis don't notice. He is ignored. However, when a Jew is a Marxist, the Nazis think that's because “Marxism is essentially Jewish". On the other hand, when a Jew is, say, neo-con, many Leftists believe that's because "neo-conservativism is essentially Zionist".
Again, when a non-Jewish white person is a Marxist, or a neo-con, his being Anglo-Saxon is completely ignored or deemed to be irrelevant.
So why are both International Socialism and National Socialism the locus of Jew-hatred? It has a lot to do with that last word : socialism. Marx's neat fusion of Jewishness and capitalism predates the rise of German National Socialism by around 70 years. This is what Marx wrote - in his 'On the Jewish Question' - in 1844:
‘What is the profane basis of Judaism? Practical need, self-interest. What is the world cult of the Jews? Huckstering. What is his worldly god? Money.... It is from its own entrails that civil society ceaselessly engenders the Jew.”
And when Marx, slightly later, wrote about “niggerlike Jews” he offered us two racisms for the price of one However, some Leftists have defended Marx's positions on the Jews with a self-contradictory stance: they claim that it's “wrong to apply retrospective judgments” or “contemporary standards” to “what Marx wrote in the mid-19th century”. Yet Marxists, evidently, apply everything else Marx wrote to virtually every contemporary political and social situation. Such Leftists also fail to recognise the fact that Marx began a Leftist tradition of Jew-hatred which has continued, almost unbroken, until this very day.
So let's take one final example from around 40 years after Marx's death (as well as being in tandem with National Socialism in Germany). Here we have the well-known – at the time - communist and Jew Ruth Fischer writing the following:
“Whoever cries out against Jewish capitalists is already a class warrior… Kick down the Jewish capitalists, hang them from the lampposts, and stamp upon them.”
The Nazis own version of revolutionary socialism partly - or even largely - grew out of revolutionary Marxism. Many people believe that there is a contradiction here simply because the Marxists and the Nazis were always enemies. Yes, they were always enemies in terms of being two opposing political power-blocks. Nonetheless, they were never complete ideological opposites. (Check out the Nazi's socialist Twenty-Five Point Programme of 1924.)
Throughout the 20th century and still today both International Socialists and National Socialists believed and still believe that 'Zionists'/'Jews' have superhuman powers. That Jews/Zionists control the thought-processes of the rest of us. Yes, both International Socialists and National Socialists believe in false consciousness. And part of the false-consciousness deal is the very widespread belief that the platonic Media stops all non-Leftists/non-Nazis from realising the true nature of political reality. That is, we are all failing to accept or even acknowledge the uncorrupted truths offered to us by Leftists/Nazis.
Of course some Jews are Marxists. Some Jews are anti-Marxists. Some Jews are Zionists. Some Jews are anti-Zionists. Come to think of it, some Jews are businessmen too. Others are artists, philosophers, scientists, actors, market tradesmen, toilet cleaners...
However, there is one thing that most – though not all - Jewish Europeans and Americans share: a high level of education. (That's a cultural, not a racial, thing.) That high level of education has lead in all sorts of directions (as education always does): towards Zionism and anti-Zionism, Marxism and anti-Marxism, a-politicism, business, philosophy, sport, acting...
Despite all the above, International Socialists and National Socialists fuse on far more than the Jews. They fuse on:
3) a reliance on conspiracy theories (often the very same ones!)
4) a reliance on the theory of all political enemies have 'false consciousness' and are victims of the 'Zionist' and platonic Media
5) Manichean world-views in which the Good (Nazis/Leftists) battle against Evil (Jews, capitalists, neo-cons, etc.)
6) black-and-whitism: theories and analyses which are of necessity simple and crude.
7) street violence followed (after the revolution) by state violence
8) a strong belief in the need for all-encompassing change
9) racism: Nazi racism against Jews, blacks, etc.
Leftist racism against (non-Leftist) Jews; positive or inverted racism towards Muslims, blacks; racism against (non-Leftist) whites. (There is even a tradition of Leftist Holocaust denial which dates back to the 1960s.
10) sect/cult-like organisations
11) charismatic and dictatorial leaders
12) socialism (national and international)
... and so on.
International Socialists and National Socialists have always fed off each other. Their relationship is almost entirely symbiotic. That's no surprise: under the skin, they are nothing less than estranged brothers fighting over the same political bones.
Here's an article tying it all together - muslims in Britain doing the Quenelle (created by a French Leftist). It shows how one way or another, the Left have been seeking to wipe out the jews for over a century.
Interesting that as far back as the hijacking at Entebbe, the Left have been in cahoots with muslims in their attacks on jews. Plenty of signs that Hitler's rabid anti-semitism could be found in sanctified, mainstream socialists who came before him.
When he was first challenged about his stiff-arm "quenelle" salute, Nicolas Anelka claimed the quenelle was an "anti-establishment" not an anti-Semitic gesture.
The West Brom footballer almost certainly does not realise it, but the quenelle is part of a long disastrous tradition that demonises the Jews (later Israel) while imagining that by doing so it is striking a blow against an "establishment". The ugly phenomenon was called the "socialism of fools"’ in the 19th century, became the "anti-imperialism of fools"’ in the 20th century, and is today – complete with selfies and You Tube videos – what you might call the anti-establishmentism of fools.
The tradition got going during the foundations of the socialist movement in the late 19th century when some on the Left, often as a tactical ploy, replaced class struggle with anti-Jewish struggle. They identified "The Jew" with finance capitalism. August Bebel, the German Social Democrat leader, shook his head at all this, laughed at the "socialism of fools" and fought it.
And there was so much of it to fight. The anarchist Bakunin wrote: "The whole Jewish world constitutes one exploiting sect, one people of leeches". In 1883, the Social Democratic Federation (SDF) leader Hyndman applauded popular anti-Semitism in Austria on the grounds that "the attack upon Jews is a convenient cover for a more direct attack upon the great landlords and Christian capitalists". In 1891, the Labour Leader, organ of the Independent Labour Party (ILP), claimed that "wherever there is trouble in Europe, wherever rumours of war circulate and men's minds are distraught with fear of change and calamity, you may be sure that a hooked-nosed Rothschild is at his games somewhere near the region of the disturbances". Ruth Fischer, a leading figure in the German Communist Party in the early 1920s, wrote "Whoever fights against Jewish capital … is already a class-fighter, even if he does not know it … Strike down the Jewish capitalists, hang them from the lamp posts, crush them!"
The sickness on the Left went deeper than individuals.
Two ideas that were very popular on the Left, assimilationism and universalism, both admirable in many ways, took on a darker meaning when it came to the Jews.
In the 19th century, most of the Left felt that assimilation was the only acceptable Jewish response to modernity and anti-Semitism. It disapproved of the survival of Jewishness – of the Jews as a people with the right to national self determination as opposed to individuals with civil rights. Instead, the Left hoped to dissolve Jewish peoplehood in the solvent of progressive universalism. The proletariat, understood as the universalist class par excellence, was to make a revolution that would solve "the Jewish question" once and for all. Actually, in the 19th century and the early 20th century, many European Jews agreed with both universalism and assimilation; it was the name of their desire too.
But world history went another way and Jewish history went with it. The failure of the European socialist revolution, the rise of Fascism and Nazism, and the unprecedented transformation of the assault upon the Jews – in the form of the Shoah, an industrial-scale genocide in the heart of Europe – left the appeal of assimilationism and universalism in tatters. In response, the Jews insisted on defining their own mode of participation in universal emancipation: Zionism and support for the creation of the state of Israel. Whether they moved to Israel or not, that was the choice of all but a slither of world Jewry. And that remains the case today.
Crucially, large parts of the Left – by no means all – failed to adapt to this great rupture in world history, and that failure has had profound consequences for the relationship between the left and the Jews. Sticking to its comprehensive hostility in principle to Zionism, the Left has become comprehensive hostile in practice to the Jews.
Two post-war events made all this worse.
First, Stalinism spread over large parts of the globe after World War Two. The roots of contemporary Left-wing anti-Semitism can be traced to its malign influence. The 1952 Slansky show trial, when most of the Jewish Central Committee of the Czechoslovak Communist Party were shot, was typical. They were charged with being rootless cosmopolitans, and part of a general global conspiracy. As the Soviet Union could not use the old language of anti-semitism, they called the condemned "Zionists". Of course, the term meant "Jew".
Second, there was the take-over of the Left by "anti-imperialism". It used to be one value among many, balanced against democracy, liberty, women’s equality, sexual freedom, anti-totalitarianism. Not anymore. As David Hirsh, an academic expert on Left-wing anti-Semitism puts it, anti-imperialism became "the central value, prior to and above all others".
Israel has been reframed by this Left as a "key site of the imperialist system" and "Zionism" began, slowly but surely, to take on the old shapes that had been reserved for "the Jew". (Only you had to remember to call them "Zionists".)
The consequences beggared belief. For example, in 1976 two German far-Leftists Wilfried Böse and Brigitte Kuhlmann hijacked Air France Flight 139 along with their comrades Fayez Abdul-Rahim Jaber and Jayel Naji al-Arjam, and demanded the release of Palestinian and Baader-Meinhof terrorists. They flew the plane to Entebbe in Uganda, separated the Jews from the non-Jews, and prepared to execute them
Let’s give it a name – reactionary anti-imperialism has been eating away at the Left like a cancer since the 1960s.
If 19th-century universalism and assimilationism gave the socialist Left a predisposition to be hostile to the Jews as a people, the 20th-century accretions of Stalinist "anti-Zionism" and reactionary anti-imperialism gave the left a predisposition to be comprehensively hostile to "Zionists" – i.e. almost all world Jewry – and to view Israel as a state beyond the pale.
Which brings us back to Nicolas Anelka and his stiff arm. Anti-Semitism passing itself off as anti-establishmentism – here is the "socialism of fools" of the 21st century.

Opening in the nineteenth century, Wistrich treats a long period. This breadth of view enables the reader to see left-wing anti-Semitic motifs that in recent decades have re-emerged in various permutations. For example, approximately one hundred years before the United Nations would adopt its infamous “Zionism is Racism” motion in 1975, Karl Kautsky, the leading theoretician of the German Social Democrats, branded Zionism as racist. [..]
Rudolf Slansky, a former Czech Communist leader and a main figure in the Prague show trial of 1952, was accused there of “Zionism.” Wistrich notes that he “was a sworn enemy of Israel and the whole Zionist enterprise, who had blocked the sale of heavy weapons to the Jewish state after 1948.” There were other extreme anti-Zionists among the Jewish majority of the accused in the trial. They were forced to confess in classic Communist style that they were “bourgeois nationalist Jews.” [...]
A special place in the propagation of anti-Israel hatred is held by the state-owned BBC. It is dominated by liberal-left employees. (543) Litigation lawyer Trevor Asserson has undertaken a number of well-documented studies in which he details the BBC’s systematic bias against Israel. He found that “BBC news reports concerning Israel are distorted by omission, by inclusion, by only giving partial facts, by the selection of the interviewee and by the background information provided, — or lack of it.”
Left-wing sources of Israel-hatred in Great Britain abound. They can be found among the extreme left, trade unions, the Labor and Liberal Parties, the theater, and elsewhere. It is to be hoped that Wistrich will one day analyze in detail the rather meek reactions from many leaders of British Jewry to the ongoing widespread defamation of Israel (which is, indeed, in no way limited to the left). [...]
Wistrich updates almost 60 years of developments on the issue of Communism and the world of Islam. To that he adds the more recent collaboration between the extreme left and radical Islamists. He quotes the Arab Palestinian Marxist terrorist leader George Habash, who stated that his wing of the PLO drew equally on Soviet and Iranian fundamentalist sources of inspiration. “Beyond ideology, we have in common anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist and anti-Israeli elements” (564).
Wistrich writes that many Shiites also share the Leninist principle that “whatever promotes the revolution is good and whatever opposes it, is bad” (565).
I think Wistrich has the cart-before the horse with that last sentiment. It is Lenin who learned from islam -- for muslims, anything which hinders islamisation is bad.
Leftist hacker, converts to islam + nazism in prison. Calls for "death to jews" and stresses his sympathies for the Fakestinians. He now resides in Lebanon
Laurie Penny, a Leftist writer in Britain, has already shown herself to be a willing tool of the jihad agenda. It is unlikely that Auernheimer’s “death to the Jews” cry will trouble Penny, if she shares the Left’s growing antisemitism; however, the swastika tattoo might embarrass her a bit, if such people are still capable of embarrassment. In any case, the strange Auernheimer shows yet again the ideological kinship between Nazism, white supremacism, antisemitism, and Islamic supremacism. “Convicted Hacker and Darling of the Left ‘Weev’ Emerges From Prison a Neo-Nazi White Supremacist,” Breitbart, October 4, 2014: Andrew Auernheimer, a hacker and internet troll better known by his online pseudonym ‘weev’, has unveiled a swastika tattoo and declared himself an anti-semite and white supremacist in a post on notorious racist website The Daily Stormer. On Wednesday, Auernheimer wrote of his “first tattoo… a 4.5 inch swastika on my chest,” which features characters from Norse mythology, which is often invoked by white supremacists. About Jews, he says: “They took control of our systems of finance and law. They hyperinflated our currency. They corrupted our daughters and demanded they subject themselves to sex work to feed their families. These are a people that have made themselves a problem in every nation they occupy, including ours. What’s saddest is that we are the enablers of this problem.” He goes on: “I look on Google Street View and see the place I used to live in, before I was kidnapped at gunpoint and held in foreign territories based on the lies of blacks and Jews. It has been bulldozed. A new house is there. “It has become impossible not to empathize with the Palestinians. The first phrase I learned in arabic: ‘al-maot lil yahood’ (death to the Jews).” This news will come as acutely embarrassing to a number of figures on the political Left who lauded Auernheimer during his trial and incarceration. New Statesman writer Laurie Penny praised Auernheimer in bylined opinion pieces as well as on Twitter, where she called for his release using the hashtag #freeweev. Artist and writer Molly Crabapple, another prominent figure on the Left, wrote an emotional account of Auernheimer’s sentencing in VICE. “I didn’t go there to write an article. I went because his conviction was wrong, and my friends and I cared for him. I meant to be another body filling the courtroom, to provide whatever support that’s good for,” she opined. Support for Auernheimer from Penny and Crabapple has been controversial among other writers and activists, since he released the details of many Apple customers in the course of his hacking efforts. He also became, as both concede, a notorious internet troll. But the two can apparently now add virulent anti-semitism and ugly neo-Nazism to the list of embarrassments generated by their friendship with and support for a man who on Wednesday wrote: “The Jews abused our compassion to build an empire of wickedness the likes the world has never seen.” Auernheimer states in his Daily Stormer op-ed that he currently resides in Lebanon, but is not planning to renounce his US citizenship. “I plan on coming back with an army, be it human or automaton,” he explains. “One day I will come to collect every single bit of the debt owed to me by the thugs and criminals that have hijacked my country. “After I am done I will rebuild my home in the Ozark mountains.” http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/10/convicted-hacker-darling-of-left-...
Famous jewish actress says she will never vote for Labour again, while jewish son of communist is its leader.
Miliband decided to throw Israel to the dogs, in order to get muslims to vote for Labour. This is part of the Chasm. Labour will become THE muslim party over the next 20 years. Towards the end of that period, Labour will disappear as a party, as muslims will vote for some version of Hizb ut Tahrir, and most decent Brits will vote for any party other than Labour.
