Finally, the question of why the quick push by China to take over the South China Sea.  It's not just about the massive oil and gas fields under it, it's about making a safe zone of that shallow water for it's subs to pass through, before they reach the safety of the deep water outside.

The submarines and rivalries underneath the South China Sea

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-36574590

A large southern area of the South China Sea is rather shallow - under 100m (328 feet) in depth. However, roughly contiguous to China's "nine-dash line" territorial claim in the South China Sea, the continental shelf drops to a deep basin of around 4,000m, offering better cover for submarines.

That is why some experts believe the deeper waters of the South China Sea, and China's enhanced anti-submarine efforts there, may offer a bastion for Chinese submarines in the future.

Another part of Obama's 'soft power' conceit.  God, he's going to leave an even more dangerous legacy to the world, than President Carter did.

China aims to dominate the whole South China Sea:

Not related directly to the 4 Freedoms, but some shocking news about China that needs more traction.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/japan/10552486/China...

"China could become the “Lord Voldemort” of East Asia if it refuses to talk to its neighbours or abide by the rule of law, a senior Japanese diplomat warns"

I find it hard to believe that a Japanese diplomat sees the world in such childish terms. Equally unbelievable, The Telegraph just reiterates his childish worldview!

Could Japan be using this childish language because Japan is scared of aggravating things by talking about China as if it was the Germany or Russia of 1939 (or the Japan of 1937)?  They can't go very far back in real historical events without reminding China (and the rest of the world) of the awful things that Japan did less than a century ago.  But I really cannot imagine a diplomat (or journalist) from the 1930s describing geo-political events in terms of characters from an Enid Blyton novel.

A few days ago I heard Radio 4's gaggle of "expert foreign correspondents" on their predictions for next year. First they talked about the predictions they made at the start of 2013 - they said they were embarrassed to even use the word "Arab Spring" now, yet they were all gung-ho about it being a progressive revolution just 12 months ago.  (We were all rightly calling the "the Arab Spring" bogus by April 2012, maybe earlier http://4freedoms.com/group/egypt/forum/topics/the-arab-spring-aka-t... )

When asked about their predicted trouble-spots for 2014, they talked of China and the resentment towards Japan which has existed since 1937, when WW2 began for the Chinese.  Again, this is something we've been talking about since August 2012.

Note that the video in the 3rd comment down has already been removed.  The fascists are getting better and better at shutting down any negative comments about Islam.  We are already suffering loss of free speech, God help us if the OIC get their blasphemy resolution past - we'll be finished.

China intends to mine the Moon.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/25141597  I wonder why they've waited so long to do this.  Could it be they've finally decided that the US is now too weak to actually stop China doing what it wants?  After all, it was almost 50 years ago when America placed their flag on the moon.

"'Terrorist' axe, knife and arson attack kills 21 in China".  Note the quotes round 'terrorist' -- Reuters channeling Lord Haw Haw.

Muslim Terrorism Count

Thousands of Deadly Islamic Terror Attacks Since 9/11

Mission Overview

Most Western societies are based on Secular Democracy, which itself is based on the concept that the open marketplace of ideas leads to the optimum government. Whilst that model has been very successful, it has defects. The 4 Freedoms address 4 of the principal vulnerabilities, and gives corrections to them.

At the moment, one of the main actors exploiting these defects, is Islam, so this site pays particular attention to that threat.

Islam, operating at the micro and macro levels, is unstoppable by individuals, hence: "It takes a nation to protect the nation". There is not enough time to fight all its attacks, nor to read them nor even to record them. So the members of 4F try to curate a representative subset of these events.

We need to capture this information before it is removed.  The site already contains sufficient information to cover most issues, but our members add further updates when possible.

We hope that free nations will wake up to stop the threat, and force the separation of (Islamic) Church and State. This will also allow moderate Muslims to escape from their totalitarian political system.

The 4 Freedoms

These 4 freedoms are designed to close 4 vulnerabilities in Secular Democracy, by making them SP or Self-Protecting (see Hobbes's first law of nature). But Democracy also requires - in addition to the standard divisions of Executive, Legislature & Judiciary - a fourth body, Protector of the Open Society (POS), to monitor all its vulnerabilities (see also Popper).
1. SP Freedom of Speech
Any speech is allowed - except that advocating the end of these freedoms
2. SP Freedom of Election
Any party is allowed - except one advocating the end of these freedoms
3. SP Freedom from Voter Importation
Immigration is allowed - except where that changes the political demography (this is electoral fraud)
4. SP Freedom from Debt
The Central Bank is allowed to create debt - except where that debt burden can pass across a generation (25 years).

An additional Freedom from Religion is deducible if the law is applied equally to everyone:

  • Religious and cultural activities are exempt from legal oversight except where they intrude into the public sphere (Res Publica)"
